It's time that videogames become less sexist and more positive towards women.

Women are growing into the videogame community and are discriminated against in chats and on the mic. Characters are dressed skimpily and have gigantic breasts. Women are projected to make up around fifty percent of all gamers. It's time to change and be less sexist!

Not just video games, films too

What do you want them to do? Shrink their breast and make them ugly and normal looking? I mean even the guy characters are like super buff and even their eyeballs have muscles. It's not sexist, but just unrealistic.

Most women in videogames are super attractive and not really dressed. The same cannot be said for men in videogames.

What's the problem if they are super attractive? They are enhancing the visual that is all.

They do the same thing with guy characters.

You are asking for it to be realistic. Most video games revolve around fantasy so there is nothing wrong with making their characters look the way they do.

Your opinions would be viewed if women were on the development teams of games but they currently aren't....so I guess get a lot of girls on a development team

There are women in development teams. Do you think there aren't?

Would you like to tell me why you down-voted my argument? Or do you just down-vote things you don't like? Show me proof that 50% of gamers are female or shut the fuck up yo... just sayin'

Then they're are two things in place then either:

1) not enough women for voice to he heard or

2) they don't care

Eh i'm sort of half and half on this debate, the guy making this debate sounds a bit... Unstable; but he/shes got a lot of points here, (sadly more in gaming culture than actual games themselves) I mean just read these and you should get my meaning.

I'm calling bullshit on that... just sayin'.

Yeah, I attended a couple of video game tournaments last year and I'm going to say that I could count the amount of girls there on one hand.

I don't see the big deal. Aren't male characters usually muscular action hero types? Why can't female characters look good? It's not like they are real people.

Side: I disagree!

I wont really call it as sexist.

The target of the game are males in puberty years. Those sexy outfits are more of a marketing strategy than being offensive.

It maybe unrealistic, but it belongs more as a concept of fulfilling ones fantasies.

That's the point. Women are also a target- but where are all the men with gigantic penises only wearing speedos?

We already have. Its called Superman, He-man and Edward

They are all the manifestations of perfect manliness but men never complained about it. Why? Because there was nothing offensive in trying to fulfill someones fantasies.

Its only the feminist who over reacts and denies that women will always show their skin as a way to attract

Video games are between the developers and the customers, if you don't like the games don't buy them. If there were enough people who wanted the games you want then someone would be making them, supply and demand isn't sexist.

Side: I disagree!

Most male characters are ripped and might not even have a shirt on. So should we stop being "sexist" about males too?

Grow up and forget about it. If the developers want to have a naked man or woman in their video game then they should go ahead.

Side: I disagree!

It depends on the video game being played. Some video games just make a typical female. For example Sims, by what I have seen in there games, never gives the females rediculous bodies. Final Fantasy, usually, doesn't give their females too much of a sex appeal. I wonder what would happen if Call of Duty let you use a female character model.

First off, really? You don't see sex appeal in Final Fantasy? Also, that is the point. Why can't I play a girl character in COD? Why are all main characters in the COD franchise regardless of side male?

Sex appeal in Final Fantasy isn't really bad. The women in the game are portraited as "epic" or "amazing". Final Fantasy characters don't care really. Sure, Tifa may have had slightly large boobs but who cares? Nobody.

Why can't I play a girl character in COD?

Take that up with the creators of Call of Duty like Activision or SludgeHammer or Treyarch.

Why are all main characters in the COD franchise regardless of side male?

I don't know. Sells better?

Maybe because the soldiers in COD are supposed to be special forces , and the kind of special forces in COD have to be at peak human level . I'm not trying to be sexist but a girl being peak human strength , speed , and endurance is uncommon . These soldiers also have to be ruthless , cold blooded , and have no morals . This quality is in men more than women . These soldiers also need extreme focus . This not being sexist it is a scientific fact , men tend to have higher levels of focus then women because , over time , that gender adapted to focus on getting the job done . Mostly because their families life depended on their "bringing home the bacon " . Again I'm not trying to be sexist , there are things that women are scientific better at than men , but those thing are irrelevant to this argument . The odds of women having the capabilities to be a COD soldier is low , it's possible but rare.

The only kind of game that doesn't discriminate is a life simulation game. But let's be real here, games aren't meant to be realistic. Games are meant to give a temporary experience of a world were things aren't like they are in life. See, it doesn't matter that life isn't accurately illustrated in games - that is exactly what we want!

Is discrimination the one exception to this rule? Specifically, does it make sense to break that rule, when women are being discriminated against? To be honest, this question is in and of itself pretty sexist and negative towards women, after all, games tend also to to portray men in ridiculous ways. Why isn't it a problem for men, when it is for women? Is it because you assume that women can't take it, while men can?

Side: I disagree!

They are already positive towards women . Just because they look attractive doesn't make it sexist . Samus Aran , Lara Craft , Orchid , Ivy . These are female heroes with great story and character . Feminist just want them to be ugly because they think girls being attractive is wrong , they think it's impossible beauty . Guess what , the same applies to guys . Most have arms the size of bowling balls , massive chests , and wear skin tight costumes . It's impossible attractiveness as well , do guys complain , no . We look at the story and their character instead of assuming they are sexist because of their looks . If their was a hot girl in gaming you only flirted and sex with the male protagonist then that would be sexist . But none of them do , if you girls want guys to stop judging you based on looks , maybe you should stop judging others by their looks .

Side: I disagree!

Having sexy female video game characters is not sexist. It's just a choice made by the game creators. Also complaining about girls being discriminated in the chat is kinda of dumb in my opinion. First of all you should learn to get more thick skin if something like that bothers you so much. Most of the times the people who discriminate girls in video games are just loser 12 year old boys trying to get your attention. That's just the internet for ya'. Also as far as I know if you're swearing or being racist or sexist in the chat can't you get a ban for that or something? Also the entire idea of this debate is just completely stupid. You're basically wanting to force game developers to make changes to their game like make less sexy female characters. If something like that really bothers you, then don't play the freaking game!
