If you are not simply in favor of prison reform (so they become centers of rehabilitation) what do you suggest ought to be done with people who fail to abide by community standards?

you can always flee to Sweeden; their facilities are really nice there, its the kind of thing that not even a man who worked his entire life would ever dream about. And the best part is, the Sweedish government won't ever give any one of its prisoners to the US or anyone, which means you can be safe and secure, and think about what you did to those poor children over coffee, watching your flat-screen in your single. And in case the cafeteria food isn't good enough, there's always the option of cooking it yourself with your private kitchen with bar-less windows (as if bars would be needed there)

The debate is kind of a joke. Seriously though for low income folks, cities are rather like prisons (rife with all the negatives you and Liber mentioned) and if I wasn't a parent, and committing a crime meant that I'd be locked up in a facility with sex starved females, it wouldn't seem to me to be much worse than "freedom" at all. And why should gays get to be locked up with the gender they prefer to have sexual relations with, while heterosexuals are denied that privilege. Its not fair. Come on..... how can you say that being locked up surrounded by sex starved people of your preferred gender wouldn't make prison much better?
