Fortunately it is a legal requirement that people who are in control of motorized vehicles, ( all of which are lethal weapons) have to possess appropriate insurance cover. Apart from decreasing the severity of any injuries sustained in the event of an accident the wearing of the aforementioned safety devices ensures that the insurance premiums are significantly lower than they would otherwise be. It is a fact of life that due to the stupidity of a large section of the motoring population laws have to be passed to force the low life idiots who would put their own worthless lives and the lives of others at risk by not voluntarily wearing these common sense safety devices. If fools want to commit suicide or get an adrenalin rush then they should jump off the Tallahassee Bridge,( figuratively speaking) or go skydiving over some desolate desert without a parachute. Anything as long as they don't endanger others with their madness. Side: Yes. Enforce them.
To put it rather crudely and simply. Driving a vehicle, whether it be car or motorcycle, isn't a right. It's a privilege. It may be your car but it's not your right to get behind it and not show proper safety measures, whether it be that you've had too much to drink or that you, for some stupid reason, don't want to wear a safety belt. If you want to keep that privilege, you follow the law, regardless of what you think about it. Personally, I don't want myself or any of my family members to have to be cleaned off the road using a squeegee blade, so this isn't a law that negatively affects me. Side: Yes. Enforce them.
