I think it should be legalized because it would be good for the economy if it is taxed. It is also safer than other LEGAL drugs such as Alcohol and Cigarettes.

The drug war has been a huge, expensive failure.

Drugs are more prevalent and easy to purchase than when the entire thing started, especially pot. Im 20 years old and it is 10x easier for me to find an ounce of weed, tabs of acid, and probably any kind of pill i want than it is for me to get a 12 pack of beer.

That is because REGULATION WORKS. When you legalize something you can control it. When you legalize something you can keep it out of the hands of minors far more easily.

When you make something illegal you give the black market a monopoly on it. They get all the money for producing and selling it and they breeds violence. Hence why when we made alcohol illegal the mafia and crime syndicates boomed with power and crime skyrocketed.

Its the same with weed and the mexican drug cartels. If you legalize it and produce it here in the states then they lose all their market. Nobody is gonna risk doing business with them when were farming it here legally. They lose money and power.

And thats totally aside from the argument that pot isnt even dangerous and is far more benign than alcohol.

Not to mention when its legal you can tax it. As weve seen in colorado there is a huge market for it and massive tax revenue to be had for any state that dares to make it legal. Colorado had so much tax revenue that they literally didnt know what to do with all of it. The surplus was so large they had to go look up in their law books what to do in that situation and the books said to put it to the people for a referendum. The people voted to fund education and now theyre building dozens of schools and improving others. Their schools no longer have funding problems and dont have to cut extracurricular activities.

Youd really have to be delusional to think keeping it illegal is a good idea.

Democrats would like to legalize all drugs but put a ban on guns. Explain that madness if you will.

Well no they fucking dont wanna legalize all guns. I literally have no idea where you pulled that gem out of. They dont even wanna legalize pot. Only maybe half of them openly hold that view.

And no they dont want to ban ALL guns. The only democrat i know of who openly advocates that stance is Dianne Feinstein. She put forward some legislation recently in the wake of the orlando shooting. It only called for a ban on assault weapons and gave the attorney general more oversight on the issue of guns. Thats it. So not even the one person who openly advocates a gun ban actually put forward a gun ban.

And drugs are obviously differnet than drugs. You cant grow a gun in your backyard. Cartels in mexico cant manufacture M16s and cart them across the border. They require a whole industry with factories to make them and then sell them. The entire gun industry is already regulated where drugs are not regulated at all. Theyre just outright banned.

So since guns are already regulated a ban is actually effective because, if banned, there is no other way for them to be made and distributed en mass.

Also guns are already banned and it works. RPGs are banned for public ownership. Have you seen a mass RPG shooting on the news? I havent. So when we talk about banning assault weapons and high capacity mags were talking about not allowing gun distrubuters to sell them. If gun distributors cannot sell them to people then where else are people going to get them? Im not saying its possible but its FAR harder to get access to a gun that is banned than it is to get access to drugs that are banned.

They are fundamentally different

I think I might become a murderer if the government won't let me smoke marijuana.

On the other hand, I feel like saving the world when I'm high off marijuana.

I have read many stories about legalize and not to legalize marijuana. There are kids who need it and if they don't they have a higher chance to die. If the police catch someone with marijuana they would need to show a "doctor's" note that says who is using it, how often, and have a limited ammount. BTW u spelled marijuana wrong, sorry for pointing that out.

Side: Legalize it

I Don't need it. so you don't have to legalize it for me. but more freedom is always better murica
