Liberalism is a mask to hide totalitarianism and it the name will be discarded once people grow tired of it. Liberalism was originally what Libertarianism is today. The definition has become the exact opposite of what it originally meant when it comes to economic terms. If you were to ask a modern day liberal what they think about how the economy should be run they will say that they want the government to regulate it and some will even say they want the government to control it. Yet, economic liberalism is actually another term for laissez-faire economics[1]. Today's liberalism still has some ties to original liberalism when it comes to social issues but positions about affirmative action, tobacco regulation, social security, environmentalism, gender politics, and race politics are different.
