You can't differentiate tiger and a tigress from a long distance! But there is a wild difference between the sexuality of a lion and a lioness! You can differentiate it from from a long distance! I think it's funny how these "lionfans" still try to make the lion seem better in a fight. I mean c'mon people, tigers are bigger, stronger, and more agile. If that is not enough to change your mind then you're just biased with lions and think they can win against any animal. If you're here to tell lies and hate on tigers, you shouldn't be here. You must be a complete fool, to think that there is even a majority for tigers, when they are solitary and prides contradicts that 100% from small prides of 2 males, 10 females to numbers as big as 28 in a single pride. In a pit fight anything is up for grabs male vs male 1 on 1 its 50/50 because they are more idenditcal in more ways that they are not an in an awesome way, nature has gave leverage to both, yet leaving them equals. Like an average 80 pounds hevier weight for the tiger and a battle protecting mane for the lion. - Its the same way to enphinsize, that a white man on average can beat up a black man or vice versa… theres no way, in telling whats the average amount would be. Tigers on the other hand are those stealthy animals whose appearance has never caught the imagination of artists or kings of yore, and indeed can not stand up to a lion in appearance or bravery. Yes, they are very fierce fighters but thats about all that one can say about them. They are lonely creatures by choice. I'd vote any day for the grandeur and majesty of a lion. Side: Lion

The lion will confront a challenge almost always....even if his intent is not on fighting. Depending upon the circumstances, he`ll either chase the rival away, or confront him for a fight...assuming the odds between the two opponents or groups, is equal. Lions have sometimes been called suicidal in some cases though, occasionally confronting potential rivals that outnumber them 3 to one. This speaks well for their aggression.When striking, the lion generally strikes with one arm, while standing upon the other 3, unlike the tiger who generally strikes while standing upon his hindlegs and swinging with both forepaws. The result is a more stable (3-point vs two-point stance) stance, with which to deliver shattering force. A person which has optimized his balance will hit harder than one who is less so (balanced). What I see of a 600 pounds tiger facing a 500 pounds male lion is a 600 pounds tiger running desperately in a terrified runaway, defending himself with soft boxing jabs that only do but provoking the killing instincts of the lion. The likely final outcome is a dead tiger (9 out of 10 times), LOL. Side: Lion
In a fight, the lion will be the aggressor. If the lion didn`t start the fight, he`ll likely be all to keen to finish it, while the tiger will be looking for the exit. The lion also fights in a manner which optimizes both balance and power, and as a consequence strikes harder than the tiger. He also has that protective mane of his, which makes him appear larger than he really is. The tiger is more agile, but, he is also lacking in stamina, possessing even less than the lion.
