Media Bias

Do you think the media is bias? Excluding Fox News, since I personally believe there the only ones to report fair coverage.

well, it's obvious that the majority of media outlets are liberal biased.

I mean, CNN, a network i once highly respected, has even hit an all time low after that Tea Party ordeal.

MSNBC is obvious bias and it's sort of childish too.

New York Times never reports all the facts and has over 9000 liberal editorials and about 2 conservative ones.

basically, all of those newspapers that are going bankrupt are obvious bias and their obvious bias is the reason why no one watches them.

here's the thing, the average American likes fair reporting and balanced punditry. This is why FNC thrives. They report EVERYTHING and they provide equal airtime for both point of views. FNC has maintained an average of top 5 in CABLE ratings. this is very good. CNN and MSNBC don't even make the top 20 and FNC has actually been defeating CNN, MSNBC, Headline News, and CNBC in combined ratings lately.

once again, Americans want fair and balanced coverage. so, they watch the fair and balanced network.

a nation that voted overwhelmingly Obama and actually has more Democrats than Republicans still watches Fox News instead of the other networks.

because, as i've been pointing out, they want FAIR and BALANCED coverage.

You know when the ratings came out this week, Fox News had the top 10 most rated shows out of all the news networks. You cant argue with that.

Where did you find this video? This guys is amazing! Haha. Excellent story. I especially love how without the 15%, Obama would have had 4 points. I honestly don't understand this country. So many people just fell in love with his charisma and his RACE (yes it played a factor and NOBODY can deny that). I know way too many people who voted for him based on little things like that. My own brother voted for him. And when my mom confronted him and asked him why and then told him all the various reasons not to vote for Obama, he was speechless, mutter absolutely nothing, screamed at her, and stormed off to vote for him a week later. This is America- no, this is not the America I know and love. This is the America that is caught up in a craze and a country of followers.

I have more videos, one where they ask Obama voters why there voting for him and they would say they dont agree with McCans policys. (they would then ask the voter did Obama pick a good VP as Salin Palin, etc, said everything McCain had, and of course, all the voters said they loved Obama because of all those things, but of course it was McCains policies, ill have to find it.)

Sure I can... popularity doesn't mean that something is non biased.

In fact I would argue that biased reporting will almost always garner higher ratings. If anything, your study shows just how biased fox is.

People rarely care about the accuracy of their news... only if it corroborates their beliefs.

(If you want me to provide specific examples of where Fox has flat out lied about issues, then I would be happy to provide).

I think the reason FoxNews does so well is they are the ONLY conservatively-biased media outlet on television, whereas all the rest have a liberal bias. Generally, most people watch the version that agrees with them more. I personally try to do the opposite, but I don't know of many people who do the same. At any rate, because there are more options for democrats and liberals, obviously the ratings for those stations are divided out, whereas there is but one option for republicans and conservatives, and they are all tuning in to FNC.

I also disagree with your idea that they report everything and provide equal airtime. They misrepresent facts, present opinion in reporting, etc. worse than the other biased stations. They are NOT a fair and balanced network. I'd feel a lot better about conservative love of Fox if they were more honest about it.

I said COMBINED. Fox News has accomplished this plenty of times.

so even that "split liberal" theory doesn't work.

Yes yes yes yes, absolutely yes the media is biased. In the paper today, there was an article about Obama's first 100 days. I don't mind if the author simply stated what he had done, but this journalist compared him to Bush as "complete opposites" and even went so far as to note that Obama is "the cool, African-American lawyer from Chicago, and the back-slapping white rancher from Texas." Is this completely necessary? This clearly illustrates the "reverse racism" that is now acceptable in America (hear me out). We have come a long way from the civil rights movement of the 60's. There are still pockets of people that are racist, like the KKK. But now, it seems as if it is perfectly acceptable to praise a black man and put down a white man at the same time. If you ask me, I'd say this is simply a role reversal. And if this is used as revenge, two wrongs don't make a right.
