Well, one way to look at it is, if a husband and wife each have their minds in their respective cell phones ... they aren't likely to be fighting or arguing. The guy driving the car and saying things he wouldn't normally say is not far from reality ... when his family is engrossed in their own cyber-world. Media and technology usually strengthens the status quo, which is a problem if the status quo is faulty. I was alive pre-internet and have seen it gradually develop from a revolutionary socialist tool where everything is free, into yet another manifestation of consumer capitalism. The massive success of internet-based companies and banks has reinforced our beliefs that hierarchy is a normal part of life. Side: Affirmative
