I surely don't know who is telling you that Medicare for all is free.. It ain't. It really boils down to this.. Do you think a doctor who's paid $75,000/year can treat you as well as one who's paid $250,000/year??
Here's the MATH.. Yes, Virginia, my plan is based on MATH.
We start with what we already spend, as a nation, on health
care.. That's about $3.5 trillion.. Then we SUBTRACT $.5 trillion we're NOW spending on the health insurance industry, because my plan will scrap it.. Then we SUBTRACT another $.5 trillion from savings on drug costs, medical equipment and lower doctors salary's.
That leaves $ ONE TRILLION to spend on actual health care that we're NOT spending now.. That'll cover EVERYBODY for EVERYTHING with money left over to buy a couple of aircraft carriers.. That means your health care, while NOT free, won't cost you a
PENNY more than you're NOW spending..

Hello again, excon: We're gonna have to break a few eggs if we're gonna FIX 1/6th of the economy.. But, we've seen upheavals before and we survived.. You know, things like the invention of cars and the cotton gin? So, getting our medical house in order is gonna cause some economic disruptions.. Specifically, we can't charge potential healers lots of $$$'s for their education if we LIMIT how much they can earn.. That wouldn't be fair. So, we need to dramatically reduce the cost of their education. Are there gonna be some potential doctors who'll choose OTHER careers where they can get rich? I suppose so.. Will there be conscientious future healers who'll choose doctoring? Yeah. Do I think it'll even itself out? I DO.. $75,000/year ain't a bad income. Clearly, med school, (along with ALL the other schools) needs to be underwritten by the taxpayer.. As I mentioned in other debates this morning, investing in an EDUCATED populate PAYS for itself, and medical school is no different.. Certainly, the health insurance INDUSTRY will have to find work.. Is it gonna BOTHER me?? Yes.. I HATE the problems economic disruption causes.. Do I hate it enough to STOP progress?? Nahh.. I'm a capitalist who BELIEVES in anti trust laws.. Those laws were enacted so that ONE industry CANNOT get SOOO big, that it DOMINATES and MONOPOLIZES their industry, to the DETRIMENT of the public.. And, that's where we find ourselves.. But, the way it is TODAY, your INSURANCE company is IN the room with you and your doctor.. And, of course, they're THERE, so that they can DENY some medical services.. But, what if your insurance company simply PAID the bill? If all they did was write a check, there would NO reason for them to know or care what kind of service you received. In truth, under MY plan, the ONLY people in the examining room with you and your doctor, are YOU and your DOCTOR.. That's as it should be. The government simply WRITES CHECKS.
