Murderers have actually used pen and paper to plan how they will commit crime.

@WinstonC

Say what you are saying is--We should ban pen and paper also?

[Note sarcasm & Cathy Newman reference]

The government has no business intervening in matters such as this. If you don't want your child playing a game, that's your prerogative. The government is the least qualified agent in America to try and establish moral vs immoral or right vs wrong.

I played games as a kid. I didn't go around planning out murders. I didn't go out looking for Pac-man pellets to gobble.

The people "effected by video games" most likely would kill without the games and find other ways to "practice".

Then the government should lift drinking age laws, remove age limits on buying guns and such then? Because obviously every parent on Earth knows what they're doing better than a professional political institution. Fucking someone and getting them pregnant doesn't make you more qualified than people who actually study these issues.

I'm sure that's true. In fact when I see a bag of chips the game Pac Man comes to mind.

Whatever happened to the good old days when people just played board games? They had Monopoly to teach them out to drain other people's money and Risk to teach them to ruthlessly conquer the world and Operation to encourage amateur surgery.

Then, I suppose we should outlaw 'laser tag', air-soft, paintball, nerf guns, & water pistols.

Then shouldn't video games be illegal? If they are being used to HELP MURDERERS then should the not be illegal to use and be outlawed? I don't really think so. Try again later idiot and see how it goes. Don't worry, your not the only dimwit here. And without the stupid people of the world, we would not have anyone to laugh at. No worries though, I am just shaking my head in disappointment after how stupid you were. I feel bad for you man. You are now a reward. Might want to get your logic checked out... unless your too stupid... You are really so stupid, I find it offensive. I can't believe you never though about this. They were called MURDERERS because they have already MURDERED other people by then. And how could the murderers used video games back then when- HUH?- THERE WAS NO ELECTRICITY! HEY, LOOK AT THE FACTS AND EDUCATE YOURSELF. There was no electricity back then. You know? B.C had no games. THINK. Oh wait... I just remembered, you can't. You don't have a brain large enough to do so. You,sir, are a reward. So stupid, it's offensive. Not only to me, but the human populations. PEOPLE OF THE WORLD. I KNOW COMMON SENSE IS A VERY RARE THING TO HAVE, BUT TAKE A LOOK AT THIS HERE MAN. IF YOU HAVE ANY COMMON SENSE, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GIVE THUS POOR MAN SOME.

Well, some games have been banned for content they have had in them; games have been banned in numerous countries around the world for depicting extreme violence, sexual harassment, excessive nudity, political position, etc. You seem to rely heavily on the nitpicky parts of the argument, avoiding any inferred consequences and resorting to personal attacks to weaken your opponents' argument. I'm sure the OP isn't suggesting Minecraft should be banned because those are the games murderers use; as an example, the videogame "Rapelay" (A game where the player literally rapes women) has been banned in numerous countries for obvious reasons. If a video game is found to be popular amongst those with murderous tendencies, why are you so against banning them? Nobody's saying all video games should be illegal, just like many people believe some, but not all, weapons should be legal to purchase (pistols, knives, etc. legal; chemical/nuclear weapons and such illegal).
