My ten year old cousin idolizes Joseph Stalin

His mother is an avid Trump supporter and his father is a moderate liberal, and I don't support Stalin or even talk to him about politics very often, so I have no idea where he gets it from. I was helping him beat a video game and all of the sudden he told me he loves Stalin and he's a communist. I then tried to explain to him the difference between actual Marxism and Stalin-type regimes, and he just said "But that stache' though".

Conflating Communism with Stalinism is one of the favourite fallacies of the far right.

Right. It's the cousin of conflating Conservatism with Nazism...

Bronto idolized Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson in his younger days? Nazism. Obviously...

And forget that those around him say he was a Marxist.

Oh...and forget Ezekiel 31 while you're at it. I've accepted your retreat.

Oh...and forget Ezekiel 31 while you're at it.

You claimed Charles Darwin was a creationist you delusional imbecile.

You continued to insist Charles Darwin was a creationist even after I made you aware that he himself had invented the word to describe religious opponents to his theory of evolution.

Literally everything you say should be permanently ignored.

You are not a Conservative bronto. You are a political fascist. The only reason you claim to be a Conservative in the first place is because admitting what you are will saturate you in negative press.

Bronto idolized Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson in his younger days?

I sincerely doubt that given your 19th century views on blacks.

Conflating Communism with Stalinism is one of the favourite fallacies of the far right.

Yes, the right has absolutely no idea what communism is and even I was deceived by the propaganda. Just so you know, this is actually a true story, my cousin is obsessed with Stalin lately. It's difficult to get through to him with his mother telling him lies about communism and with the Soviet propaganda he is consuming on the internet. On the one hand he listens to me, but he also knows that I am almost a communist myself and between the propaganda from the internet and his mother constantly berating him he has developed a rebellion complex and become very confused. He wants to hold onto his Stalinist phase to go against his mother and when he hears me talk about it he just refers to the propaganda and says "but see, Stalin agrees with you".

Sounds like he's just having a rebellious phase. I wouldn't worry too much.

In 1912, Lenin, then in exile in Switzerland, appointed Joseph Stalin to serve on the first Central Committee of the Bolshevik Party. Three years later, in November 1917, the Bolsheviks seized power in Russia. The Soviet Union was founded in 1922, with Lenin as its first leader. During these years, Stalin had continued to move up the party ladder, and in 1922 he became secretary general of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, a role that enabled him to appoint his allies to government jobs and grow a base of political support.

After Lenin died in 1924, Stalin eventually outmaneuvered his rivals and won the power struggle for control of the Communist Party. By the late 1920s, he had become dictator of the Soviet Union.

Joseph Stalin (1878-1953) was the dictator of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) from 1929 to 1953. Under Stalin, the Soviet Union was transformed from a peasant society into an industrial and military superpower. However, he ruled by terror, and millions of his own citizens died during his brutal reign. Born into poverty, Stalin became involved in revolutionary politics, as well as criminal activities, as a young man. After Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin (1870-1924) died, Stalin outmaneuvered his rivals for control of the party. Once in power, he collectivized farming and had potential enemies executed or sent to forced labor camps. Stalin aligned with the United States and Britain in World War II (1939-1945) but afterward engaged in an increasingly tense relationship with the West known as the Cold War (1946-1991). After his death, the Soviets initiated a de-Stalinization process.

And the difference is, pure Communism is a made up fairytale for children and Stalinism uses the made up fairytale for children as bait to get the shock collars on anyone stupid enough to believe it.
