I don't see Ned Kelly as a common villain. He was a symbol, he was hope. He did what you didn't dare, he was the father in his house from a young age. He is a survivor.

He was a child broken by sorrow and an even more broken law. In a country where you are born poor and stays poor. He did what he had to. He refused to die in a ditch.

Ned Kelly took from the rich and gave to the poor. A real life Robin hood. The only reason he was taken down this path was his circumstances, which was all in good luck. I can see your point of view though. He did kill, he was a apart of countless crimes. but the system is sometimes so broken that you are forced to take matters into your own hands.
