There are some shows that are not meant to be for kids but this is when parents should be aware of what their kids are doing and watching. we can't hold TV shows responsible for what influences a child.

True, we are not able to control all that staff which is shown on a TV and also always look after what our kids are watching. However, we can prevent the negative influence by arising the good influence of books (classics, child books, not those which are for adults) on children. Then spend much time walking, playing than sitting in front of TV.

You do have a point about books being better than sitting in front of a TV. I would hope that more people start doing that.

Whilst I admit that some television programmes do not give out the best message they could give, a large proportion of television is dominated by documentaries, and news. When will knowing about these things ever become a hindrance?

But how can parents be sure that their kids watch these "Documenaries,and news"? Channels as Discovery, National Geography do not attract much attention of young generation, especially preschool ones. Children are more interested in cartoons and "not so boring" programs, TV shows, films. And here, it becomes clear that children can learn some "bad" things from watching channels full of violence, unapropiate behaviour, and strange ideas.

Furthemore, even news may be not be relevant for small kids... .

What you are saying is correct, a large proportion of children do watch some dodgy things. However these programmes are targeted at adults and therefore it is the responsibility of the parent to decide what a child can and can't watch. However whether or not television has a negative influence on children is of course subjective, depending on the child, what they have access to and their reaction to this.

Personally I think that the children who do use television to their advantage should not be penalised for the actions of others. It is like convicting five people in a family of vandalising when everyone is aware that only one member did it, but because of the fact that there is a link between them they are all penalised.

Television can be detrimental:

From the statistical data show that:

1. Children who consistently spend more than 3-4 hours per day watching TV are more likely to be overweight;

2. Kids who view violent acts are more likely to show aggressive behavior;

3. On the TV often depict unhealthy behaviors, such as smoking and drinking.

4. Advertising on the adverse nutritional impact on nutrition.

Therefore, it is necessary to control the content or information and protect children from negative films.

I am sure that almost everybody who reads this statistical data believe in it and even do not try to chek the credibility. Because many of us see what is happening to big fans of television among kids. And not only.

Yes, we need to protect children from negative films as you concluded, but controlling the content of information seems rahter difficult task.

I understand that the control of the information contained on the television is very difficult. But we must fight it and take any measures to protect children from swear words on television. For example, we can not remove TV shows who we do not like, but we can influence the management of the channel of the show, if we united together and try to prevent the filthy language on the television. I think you'll agree that on TV a lot of silly TV programs, and I do not understand why people invest in such projects.

Well, TV is only one of many things that have a detrimental effect on children. But the Bible is the only "classic" influence that is good. Television was designed to destroy the morals of society. We are just now seeing the full effect.

Can I give a yes to some children's programming because it's absolutely ridiculous/mindless? I stopped watching any form of children's programming at around eleven because I couldn't watch more than five minutes or so without the strongest urge to remove myself from this world in the quickest way possible.

In my point of view, I think that the cartoons, each based on good behaviors are have a good influence on children. They will teach what is good and what is bad. More over, the cartoons, each teach children new word or how to count or gives a good thinking exercise only help our children. we just should control what they watch.

As i have understood you wrote only about a special group of cartoons which are based on intelectual development of children. Yes, there are some good examples, however today more often there are met those cartoons which actually show the world totally different and make a certain kind of illuision effect on children. Interestingly, we should not forget that making cartoons is a business and really profitable one. Sometimes the creators may not think much about the audience as they do about tricks which can attract more spectators (including adults).

TV programmes can affect child positively as well as negatively. Therefore, parents should take proper steps to monitor what child is watching.

However, It depends on what and how much they're watching. Television that involves physical harm, emotional harm, bad words, drugs, and racism is a bad influence. However, lots of TV shows involve those things, and kids watch them. Television that involves the opposite of these things, such as sympathy and helping the environment, is a good influence. It's my view

Children are involved watching TV plenty but I don't think TV has a negative influence on them.

TV quality decreased heavily. The best way to get information is by books or filtered internet.
