Firstly, there are between 250-280 million firearms in America according to Google. Your claim that there are 700 million illegal guns is complete and utter bullshit. You are precluded from knowing how many illegal guns are in America precisely because they are unregistered and have not been disclosed to exist. Therefore, I would appreciate it if you would refrain from making up your own facts. Regards the general purpose of your question, then most people do not want to be criminals, and so I would wager banning guns would inevitably result in most of these guns being returned. Introducing a mandatory five year prison sentence for anybody caught in possession of a firearm would further expedite the return of both legal and illegal weapons. To balance the hard with the soft, another approach might be to open anonymous drop centres for guns, with no questions asked. The fact is that all gun nuts have are hypothetical excuses about why banning guns wouldn't work, which they use to squirm out of trying. Side: Yes
