Nuclear Power
Nuclear power as an energy source can do wonders. We just have no idea how to get rid of it, is the waste + the energy worth it?

Generation of nuclear energy does emit relatively low amounts of carbon dioxide into the air. Therefore the contribution of nuclear power plants to global warming is therefore relatively little. 1 block of Uranium ( maybe half a pound ) can emit the same amount of power as 1 ton of coal, 2 and 1/2 tons of wood, and countless others. We have the technology to use nuclear power we just do not have the technology to get rid of the waste produced, yet. I think that just the electrical output alone is enough of a reason to use the Nuclear Power Plants that exist and create more. Side: Use it

The problem of radioactive waste is still an unsolved one. The waste from nuclear energy is extremely dangerous and does not become harmless until around 10,000 years pass. Considering nothing is 100% in plant safety standards there is and always will be accidents occurring in factories and plants. Worse of an accident is 1 that happens in a nuclear power plant. Is the risk of thousands of innocent people worth it? Uranium is a scarce resource that will not last more than 60 years at an increasing demand, so now think. Why even build plants that take years to construct when A.) the main resource for creating the energy of a NPP is already disappearing from the planet and B.) We cannot dispose of this dangerous waste that is produced from the plants. Side: Dont use it
DaWolfman, you're right to make statements about the waste products of Nuclear Energy. However, your facts are a bit skewed, and to the point I might add where your opinion would be changed because of it. Globally, we have methods of containing these materials much the same way we store waste products from countless other CHEMICAL plants. Yes, it's radioactive, but it can still be contained within a few layers of Beryllium or Lead, no big deal it's a lot less waste product per energy and per input, and in that aspect worth more than it's counterparts in waste. Much more so than fossil fuels. Nuclear energy yields more energy than chemical energy by the magnitudes of 1,000,000. That's why nukes are devastating. Uranium is not the only source available to use for nuclear reactions, some other sources are Plutonium, Neptunium, and Tritium. You just need an unstable isotope. And of course we want to avoid another Chernobyl, so it's probably a good idea to put the facility out in the middle of nowhere. Just saying. We have vast territories here in America, most of which uninhabited. There are countries that already successfully use it, just to add real world examples. Like France. 90% of their electricity is nuclear power. Imagine. Side: Use it
There are much better alternatives out there than the use of nuclear power. Due the to longevity of the nuclear waste still being harmful, the continual maintenance of it for countless years would add up to it being ineffective as an energy source. Eventually there will be leaks and contamination. I don't like the idea of solar or wind due to the excessive large amounts of land they use. Nor do I like the idea of wind power harming the local wild life be it small or large in numbers. Surely, there must be other suitable alternatives out there. Side: Dont use it
as americans we are bullies we abuse about ever power we get for example during world war 2 we bombed heroshima and nagasaki destroying everything killing 250,000 inacent people who are still going through side affects from the radiation to this day like prmature birth kids being born with holes in there hearts and if they make it through both of those they still have high odd of catching a deadly desese because of use using our power just because we can expecting mothers and and anxios fathers are filled with fear that they might not even get to get to know there kid because their dead because we use atomic bombs on them while were over here just living life to the fullest and abusing our power and fredo, as usual Side: Dont use it
