Obama Says Something about the Special Olympics

Apparently, retard lovers and Conservatives are mad at Obama for telling Jay Leno that he was treating him like he was in the Special Olympics.

Okay, really?  WTF!  Political Correctness has run a muck.  First off, who the fuck does it offend?  Retarded people don't know that he's making fun of them, so really, who gets upset here?  I'll tell you who, PC assholes (and the Conservative assholes, although, I really haven't heard much from them... surprisingly).

Now, I actually haven't heard an outrage at all.  I assumed there was one because Obama actually apologized for this nonsense.  If I were Obama I'd tell anyone who demanded an apology to go shove it up their ass.  And, PC police have gone after so many Conservatives for harmless jokes as well... I wouldn't expect there to be a double standard in politics.

If anyone actually has links to whoever was upset about this, please post it.  I kind of expect something like this to piss SOMEONE off, since PC police are always quick to jump on people who make fun of any little thing... at all.  Like philipino people all pissed at Desperate Housewives for that joke about a degree from the Philipines.

I didn't even hear it the first time through the laughter, I think the only people offended by this are people that take care of special people. Since special people mostly don't even know wtf is going on anyway.

What Obama said was just being a little funny, at least he isn't a blabbering idiot that has no idea what he is saying and making up words that sound smarticlergeric =]

Well, the people that are offended are the people who take this the wrong way. Somehow. I mean, political correctness is usually an evasion of fact at its core. How Jay was treating him, though, was a bit reminiscent of the Special Olympics. OK. Fine. So what? Can he/we only think that, and then when we say it - OH NO! You just made a comment about the Special Olympics! Can't do that! Evasion of fact.

He shouldn't have had to apologize. He's on a comedy show, albeit as the President. This is probably why no other President has done anything like this. Any joke is going to be blown out of proportion and 'victims' will make it very clear that the President made a joke at their expense.

Side: Who cares

He definitely should not have apologized and in doing so he killed all the funniness that was ever there in that comment. Now when I see that clip I'm thinking why did he apologize!?

What's funny is I actually started off this debate thinking that Obama actually did receive shit for this and I wanted to defend him. And I still do:

but when I looked this up (looking for an article or video from pissed off activists) I found nothing. The only thing i did find were Conservative bloggers pointing out the obvious:

That if this were a Republican who had said it, he would be crucified by the Media and every blog site.

so that explains the shift in the description.

Side: Who cares

I agree with the fact that it does seem odd nobody is mad about this, but...

Here's someone.

And here's some more.

Even Sarah Palin!

And this guy.

Two birds with one stone! He got Bush and Obama on this one!

Schwarzenegger's wife's mad.

OK. That's enough. But I think there would still be more if it was Bush. People love to hate the guy. Oh well.

Just for good measure, here's the video (You can form your own opinion):

holy shit. so the retarded people actually did get offended.

and I can't believe Palin is still talking...

I don't really care, but other people do, therefore I'll explain their positions.

1.) Obama is suppose to be a intellectual above the rest therefore he suppose to be above such an immature comment.(That is how he was packaged to us.)

2.) This is also not the first time obama has said something out of turn about people he thinks of as lesser than himself, he's also condescended people who stick to their bible and guns. Therefore it calls into question his character as president.

3.) One would think a harvard man on national Tv would of known better. It shows he lacks common sense!

4.) Leftist Hypocrisy. Why is it when dick morris calls his own thought process "retarded" he's condemned for it, but obama's remark is treated as a gaffe and receives no condemnation? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRUOL5Rm2XY (this video was put out after Mr.morris used the word.)

5.) Obama's quib assumes special needs kids can't bowl. It's a stereotype because I have met a alot who are excellent bowlers. It also implies special needs kids are worthless at everything they do, though idiot savants destory this myth because they have a remarkable aptitude in some limited field. eg. the piano.

Side: Who cares

I actually think he made the comment not because he is a bad bowler, but because of the way Leno was treating him for his low score, telling him it was good, okay, whatever. People might just be understanding why he said this the wrong way. If he said it because of his bad bowling, that's one thing. But, if he said it because of Leno's talking to him, that's something else. That's a completely valid point. That's just the way I understood the comment.

1. There's no law that an intellectual can't compare his bowling skills to those of someone in the Special Olympics. And the people who support Obama don't see him as a package; they see him as genuine, and like us. So your entire premise is wrong.

2. Him comparing himself to someone in the Special Olympics would not be him thinking lesser of them, but equal too. That's just simple logic, so what are you talking about? And the guns and Bible comment was awsome, people do that, and it deserves to be condescended by people who aren't paranoid scitzos, that said, you and I both know that you are purposefully misrepresenting what he said, because he did not mean it the way I do... which is again, those people are paranoid scitzos.

3. Lacking common sense would be something like making a 5 piece list on something that no one should care about. And in that list of 5 things, making broad assumptions and completely inaccurate characterizations of a person's entire being based on a 2 second clip.

4. Both sides get equal condemnation, and neither side should, and you're not even good at setting up strawmen, it's sad really.

5. "I have met a lot who are excellent bowlers" really? That’s weird, you must work with them or something, because in my entire life I've met like 5, and none at a bowling alley. And it wasn't specific to bowling, it was a general statement about the fact that the special Olympic participants aren’t' non-special Olympic athletes... If they were, there wouldn't be a Special Olympics now would there?

Yeah, I heard that, I didn't even noticed it in the interview, but there was some stuff on FAUX.

It's out of control.

1. they're not special, they're retarded.

2. that's the point of retarded olympics, they suck at the stuff, but have fun. Obama sucks at bowling, but has fun. So yeah, it's exactly like the special olympics.

That's the point of the goddamn special olympics! It's overcoming handicaps! It's not sitting around pretending they don't exist. All of this pc bs is just pretending something doesn't exist. And it's just dumb.

Listen, Pyg's exactly right. Anyone bright enough to know they're not "special" is bright enough to know that calling them "special" is condescending, and way more offensive than being honest and just saying they're retarded or handicapped.

And this is an issue where the majority of people know it's dumb on both sides, and politicians on both sides are just pandering to 10 bitter old ladies with nothing to do but write angry letters to their representitives.

This needs to stop, it's ridiculous.

actually, he was mentioning how Jay Leno was treating him like he was in the special Olympics when he said "oh, a 129, that's very good" (in a way you would speak to a retarded person).

he wasn't comparing himself to them at all...

How's that not a comparsion? Who speaks sarcastically like that to mentally disabled people? I think jay was being sarcastic as in "it wasn't very good at all" (In a sort of eye ball rolling way.) Not that obama was retarded in anyway and obama took it the wrong way/down the wrong path. He misjudged jay's intent.

1.) It's not my argument. I do believe I put a disclaimer up there before I provided the following points I've heard others make as to why they might be upset. I agree there is no law that says an intellectual can't make those comparsions. But if one does, are they really that intellectual? Infact, I think obama has a more mentally challenged skill level.

2.) Simple logic dude, Just because someone likes the bible and guns doesn't make them paranoid schizo. That's a hasty generalization on your part. It's spelled "Schizo" by the way. How is obama like you? Did you go to harvard? Do you know terroist? Is your pastor liberation theologist? So you're logic is Obama is as mentally handicapped?

3.) Good thing it's not my logic.

4.) Oh really, Prove this claim.

5.) I see so your personal truth vs my personal truth makes this argument moot? In that case, http://dougpowers.com/2009/03/20/special-olympic-bowler-calls-out-obama/ It's pretty embarrasing when a special person has more skills than our intellectual president wouldn't you say so?

I'm pretty sure they're Special. Why are you mad at me and et al's for using the word special to discribe them? I choose to be senstive instead of insenstive like yourself, get over it.

You assume they suck but that's not true see my other post.

You have a real anger towards these special people. Seek help!

"That's the point of the goddamn special olympics! It's overcoming handicaps! It's not sitting around pretending they don't exist."

I agree! However, that's a postive way to go about it.

Unless Obama says hes gonna be in the special olympics, no one gives a flying fuck what he has to say, politically correct or not.

Side: Who cares

I don't really care. I think way worse things have been said on that show.

It would be different if he was flat out making fun of retards, but that is not the case.

How can I pretend to be pissed at this when I laugh my head off about things on family guy that are 10 times more offensive.

If I had been watching this on TV I would probably not have even caught it.

I do agree however that it would be considered a big deal if it had been a republican.

Actually, if you search back far enough, I think I have another bathroom debate in there some where. After a while I start to repeat myself; but I'm being redundant ;)
