Once again Obama is playing politics with guns before the bodies are even cold!

This radical extremist we have as President lives and breathes his radical political ideology, and no matter how many people die, he will use any tragedy to push his extremist agendas. He sits there on TV tonight spewing the same old tired lies about gun control before the victims are even cold.
Not one of these mass killings in schools would have been prevented from any of the new laws these control fanatics want to put on law abiding citizens.
ANY person with an ounce of sense knows full well that criminals will always find a way to get guns. THEY DON'T FOLLOW IDIOT LAWS MADE BY IDIOT POLITICIANS.

Ok... so what is your solution? If you are so sure that trying to regulate gun use will be completely and 100% ineffective (something not backed up by other countries,) what is your plan to reduce gun violence? Tragedies like this exemplify a problem. Is it wrong, in the wake of a tragedy, to try and prevent future tragedies of the same nature?

If I may offer some thoughts on the matter.

No single measure nor any set of measures will be completely 100% effective in controlling gun violence. Your strawman argument claiming that that's what the original poster said is completely incorrect. Ask your self this question is it easier to control hundreds of millions of guns in this country or is it easier to control even 1 million nuts?

To all with a discerning mind it is clear and evident that the problem is not simply guns but nuts with guns. Simply looking at the numbers themselves clearly indicates where we should put our efforts in control it should be in mental health.

Today because of the political correctness or PC police it's impossible to get someone committed even though their family members and their friends and their coworkers know that there's something wrong with this individual. Nothing can be done until this person commits a crime. There exists today no real avenue for bringing together a judge a doctor and a family member to enable them to identify people who are mentally ill and dangerous and give them the help they need before something happens. This fact lives at the core of the problem and until it's addressed no workable solution will be found. This fact sets at the core of the problem and until it's addressed, no workable solution will be found. IMO

Agreed. But that doesn't mean that no set of measures can help.

Your strawman argument claiming that that's what the original poster said is completely incorrect.

Well, yes, I do think that. He claimed Obama would use any tragedy to push his extremist agendas. I don't think this particular belief of Obama is extremist, nor do I think it is exploring a tragedy.

And I don't buy the idea that gun control laws can do nothing to prevent criminals from getting guns.

Ask your self this question is it easier to control hundreds of millions of guns in this country or is it easier to control even 1 million nuts?

I think it makes a lot of sense to try and make it harder for those nuts to get guns.

To all with a discerning mind it is clear and evident that the problem is not simply guns but nuts with guns.

True. That's why we need to put money into helping those people, and, in the meantime, make it harder for them to get guns.

Simply looking at the numbers themselves clearly indicates where we should put our efforts in control it should be in mental health.

Have there been any bills put forward by either party to try and put money and energy towards assistance to those with mental health problems? Legitimately asking; i don't know.

Today because of the political correctness or PC police it's impossible to get someone committed even though their family members and their friends and their coworkers know that there's something wrong with this individual.

Most of the people committing these shoots have a history of mental illness. If people with a history of mental illness could not own guns, it is likely these events would not have occurred, or could have been stopped.

This fact sets at the core of the problem and until it's addressed, no workable solution will be found.

So why isn't anyone on the right actively advocating for improving services for those with mental health issues?

.

I do agree with you, really. I just don't see why we can't do both? Why are you so sure that preventing people with a history mental health issues from getting guns will be ineffective? And why isn't anyone trying to improve care for those with mental health? I'd be surprised if a majority of people, democrats or republicans would be opposed to that.

You're just spamming these. I know I responded with one of them.

FromWithin has begun banning those who he knows will disagree with him (me, Cuaroc, GenericName, etc.) before they have a chance to post in his topic. Cuaroc reposts all of his debates so that we can have the debate without fear of being banned.

Even when he has a chance to be right, FromWithin still has to be abrasive and nonsensical.

Funny that the USA is the only country that has this problem in the developed word but yet somehow the liberal stance on guns is not the blame even though it is the only factor that is different between the USA and other countries.
