Hi this is Qinze from 2e3.

Online debating is much much more interesting than classroom debating as we can find intersting information from the internet while posting our main point of our side of the story.

Also, we can show some videos or pictures that we can't really show when doing classroom debates.

So believe that the mothion must stand and i completely agree that online debating is much more interesting than classroom debating.

I disagree. Yes, it is true that it is more interesting but it depends on who is debating. Some people do not how to use the computer. Also, it is unfair for some people as some people type at different speeds. In classroom debates, we only have a limited time [3min], thus it can be fair.

Next, while it is correct to say that one can do the research while debating, people with little self-control can go websites that are not related to the debate motion. They can go youtube or some gaming websites while debating.

I totally disagree with your point. So what if we can gather information more on the internet? Still, during classes, we can be motivated by yours classmates clapping sounds to cheer on you. whereas, for online debate, we can't hear ir laughter. Facial expression is also ecessential here.

Also, are we allowed to find information during real debates? no we can;t. we need to be prepared and gathered all the information we need before debating. if not, this is known as cheating.

Hence, I, as the opposition, disagrees that online debating is more interesting than classroom debate.

Side: Opposition

I agree with Lynette.

Come to think about it, when our teacher briefs us in the class debates weeks ago, she mentions that groups that are not ready [ie not enough points etc] will be immediately disqualified. Thus, it can be correct to say that finding information during real debates is considered cheating.

I disagree.

Isn't it unfair if you get to research WHILE debating? 'Cause in classroom debating we have a limited amount of time to speak our opinions, and we cannot research while doing so. When someone debates online and research at the same time, it is unfair to others who only depend on their knowledge on the topic to debate as the one who researches surely gets more points.

Also, if you show videos and pictures while debating, then it doesn't count as a debate anymore because debating is like public speaking. When you show videos and pictures, it has become more like a presentation, which is totally different.

Therefore,THE MOTION MUST FALL.

i disagree. when we are debating online we cant get to see each other expression thus the atmosphere and everything are not there. you said that we can find more interesting information during online debating, it is true that you can find more. but you can also do research before your class debating. pictures can also be print out or present to the class through teacher's laptop. thus the above point you listed out is not a problem when we are having class debating. so i believe that your motion must fall.

Online debating is much more interesting. Take note that the debation motion is "online debating is more interesting than classroom debating". This refers to whether the debating is interesting anot, not about the points that was made during the debating. I think online debating is rather fun as we get to use the net on the spot to check out for information. Other than that, we will also get to search for pictures, to support our point. When the other party rebutts, we will get to find sufficent informantion to support out point. I think the best way to debate will be debating it online.

I agree 101&#xly; to Jingci's point. Support and evidence are in my debating post.

Side: Proposition
4 points

I agree to the motion that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating.

Firstly, using the computer and debating would be much more interesting and easier for people who can type fast. It is much more interesting as we can search for evidence, examples etc on the net and show it to the other party easily. Example when you are not ready for the debate at least you could do impromptu research, whereas in real life you have to be very ready.

Secondly, online debates gives you more time to think and voice out your opinion, think of your points carefully before replying, and the debate would actually be fairer and even true. It allows you to do some research before you actually rebutt back to the other party. This can prevent you from losing the debate easily and the debate would get real fun. If the debate allows a indefinite number of posts and comments, it would be best.

Thirdly, in real life you tend to speak in broken english or get too agitated and bang the table and stuffs. Using online debates prevents one from getting too agitated and stay cool, it also improves ones' english as one tries to type in a more persuasive way. Just like what I am doing now.

Therefore, I stand to my stand that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating.

My points above supports my stand and I agree fully to it.

Quote "Thirdly, in real life you tend to speak in broken english or get too agitated and bang the table and stuffs."

Have you ever wondered why there are people being banned? Its generally because they get agitated more easily and use harsh languages since they are hiding behind the computer screen and also, they can create another account again with another email address since it is free. As for classroom debates, there are teachers with us hence, they would not dare to use harsh languages.

Quote"Example when you are not ready for the debate at least you could do impromptu research, whereas in real life you have to be very ready."

When we are doing classroom debates, it is also training you to be prepared when u get on to work. An example would be when you are going to have a meeting in your company, you will have to be very prepared for it and not try to do last minute impromptu research as you have said.

Quote "online debates gives you more time to think and voice out your opinion, think of your points carefully before replying, and the debate would actually be fairer and even true. It allows you to do some research before you actually rebutt back to the other party. This can prevent you from losing the debate easily and the debate would get real fun."

If this is the case, the exciting feeling of a debate is gone. Also, in classroom debates, it really tests your critical thinking skills when you are thinking of a way to rebut your opponent.

I agree that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating.

Now on to my points,in online debating, people can say their views as they like that they do not dare say in front of the other party or is too shy to share their view in front of the audience. This gives them more confident and will dare to speak up more points than before.

Also,by having online debating, people have more time to have their stand without have to worry about time constrains. It is due to time constrains that people could not finish their opinions. When there is a time constrain, the speakers feel nervous inside although they do not usually show the expression on their face. When they are nervous and they see that not much time is left, they tend to rush to finish their speech, thus worsening the situation and made more mistakes than ever. This will lead to some loss of points of what the speakers wanted to say, thus losing out to the opposite party.

However, through online debating, there will be no time constrains to worry the speakers, thus making the speaking a smooth and perfect one.

Also, through online debate, we can show videos or pictures as our evidences for our views. As during classroom debates, we are not able to show evidences therefore a lot of the audience will ask"Where your evidence?" or"Do you have any proof?"However through online debates, evidences can be shown so more points can be spoken out.

Online debating is much more interesting than classrom debating. The reasons are clear, the internet, one of the largest sources of information is in our hands, facts are found by the click of a mouse, almost instantly, we could obtain solid information from the different reliable sources. We can check if a point made by someone is true or false, simply by searching the internet, checking for different reliable sources. We could obtain statistics, valuable information and different opinions from other websites. Online debating allows everyone to take part, regardless of where we are, and we get to see different opinions.

I agree that online debating is more intersting than classroom debating.

Firstly, online debating is generally for people who like to keep to themselves, they don't talk much. Some people tend to not like to talk so much because of their fear to "lose face".

Secondly, online debators do not need to be in the same room. When registered online, people from all over the world can debate on the same topic. Classrooom debators would need to be in the same place to carry out the debate.

What's more, they also have to speak louder in order for everyone to in the room to listen. In an online debate, whatever the debators type in are clearly visible to the opponents and the audience.

I completely agree. We are free to express ourselves. We will not be afraid to speak our views because of our bad speaking skills. Our argument could be edited and organised before we post it, compared to classroom debating, we are needed to think about questions in a short time, and sometimes we might not be able to come up with a clear argument and we might fail in bringing across our arguments. Classroom debates pressurises us more than online debating as the audience expects to argue properly and correctly.

Though online-debate will make one who is shy or not-so-good in speaking talks more, but it does not means it make the debate as interesting classroom debate. In classroom-debate, the atmosphere is something that will not be seen on online-debate, also, it's interesting to see the expression on your classmates, some are really funny.

Last but not least, classroom-dabate will let one who is shy or not-so-good in speaking develop his/her public speaking skills unlike online-debate, where everyone is hiding behind the screen. Nobody is born with the skills to speak well, you are the essential one who is able to develop it.

Octavilia from 2e4,

I do not entirely agree that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating. In debating, there's a need to show our facial and voice expression in order to convince the audience as well as the the opposing team on our stand. With such expressions then we can better argue our points and rebut the other's team. Words typed on the screen may not bring out the emotions as much as in classroom debating.

Also, in classroom debating, we can time ourselves and thus within that time-frame, we can test ourselves on the points we managed to argue and rebutt. However, in online debating, it is more likely that one is spending more than 3 minutes or 1 minutes typing out his points, thus that kind of debating may not be fair compared to classroom debating.

To conclude, I believe classroom debating is more interesting as it is more engageful through expressions and we can gage ourselves within the given time.

"I do not entirely agree that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating. With such expressions then we can better argue our points and rebut the other team. Words typed on the screen may not bring out the emotions as much as in classroom debating."

Emotions are small factors in an argument, while facts and evidences are the IMPORTANT parts of an argument, in an online debate, we obtain solid and strong sources and evidences. Without them the argument is null, I think that the facts and arguments you have still outweighs the little emotions that we use to appeal to the audience.

In fact, when you are debating, you have to try to keep emotion out of your arguments. Losing your head during a crucial moment in an argument can cause you to lose the debate and weaken your side of any future debates.

Passion is a driving force in almost everything we do, but when emotion is tossed into it and forms a mix, things can go downhill fast. When you are debating, you have to try to keep emotion out of your arguments, to ensure clear and well-thought arguments.

In conclusion, emotions compared to the countless pieces of evidences we can obtain from strong sources through the internet at a short time, emotions are outweighed. Facts and evidence strengthens your argument better than emotions. Therefore, it does not prove that classroom debating convinces the audience better than online debating because of emotions, making online debating more interesting than classroom debating.

Quoted from Octavilia

"Also, in classroom debating, we can time ourselves and thus within that time-frame, we can test ourselves on the points we managed to argue and rebut. However, in online debating, it is more likely that one is spending more than 3 minutes or 1 minutes typing out his points, thus that kind of debating may not be fair compared to classroom debating."

In classroom debate, it tests how fast you react during the debate, it doesn't prove that you do not have the evidence as the other side might ask you a question that requires u to give examples, you will be trying to think of rebuttals in a pressurized situation under a time limit, which affects your answers.

Whereas, in online debating, the audience does not expect you to deliver in any amount of time, once you have a proper answer, with solid pieces of evidence, you are making an argument, therefore online debating allows you to prepare for better answers, as the Internet is in our own hands, facts and sources are found instantly.

As time does not play a part in supporting your argument. Therefore, online debating allows you to give clearer and stronger answers as we have an unlimited amount of time compared to classroom debating that has a time limit to think about your rebuttals, which allows you to argue much more efficiently, making online debating more interesting than classroom debating.

In conclusion, online debating is more interesting as it allows us to have clearer and stronger arguments than classroom debating as it is free of anxiety and pressure, and we are able to make clearer and stronger arguments because of the evidences and sources we have in the vast internet.

Im Amelia from 2e4. I disagree with this statement. In my opinion, I feel that classroom debating is much more interesting and exciting than just online debating.

Online debating does not give you that thrill that you get during classroom debating. In classroom debates, there are time limits and floor rebuttals. Plus, the rebuttals just come straight at you. There is less time to think, that gives you that pressure and true fun of debating.

In online debating, you will have to wait for other people to rebutt or post their main point before you can rebutt their points. Wouldn't it be really slow if the debators have to constantly wait for new argument points? I believe so.

If you have a lot to say, it might seem like a hassle to type out the whole thing on online debates. Classroom debates will allow you to just say out your points and rebuttals in speech, which is so much more convenient. Some people might think that online debating gives you more time to think about how to rebutt. Some may open other windows and research on the topic. If a person is really interested in knowing what a debate is like. I wouls strongly suggest that he or she try out classroom debating. It is much more exciting with the motivation from the floor, the cheering and the rebuttals that shoot at you like arrows. So much more interesting than just sitting in front of the computer, writing your main point and rebuttal, then waiting for others to rebutt back. Just how many times would you have to refresh the page?

Online debating should be a stepping stone towards "real" debates, it provides a taste of what a debate is like. However, the real thing would be to experience it first hand. With the time limits, fast rebuttals and floor rebuttals.

Hence, I come to my conclusion. Classroom debating is more interesting than online debating. The real experience comes together with debating face to face with the preposition or opposition!

I am Catherine from 2E4.

On this motion, I disagree that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating. Firstly, in classroom debating, the speaker get to say their points and explanantion with expression and also can add more drama to the speech.Usually, when the speaker speaks with such emotion on their stand, people will tend to be more interested. However in online debating, it is just words on the computer which portrays no emotion,so in a way, it is quite boring.

Secondly, in classroom debates, the other side will rebutt and say their main points almost immediately. Therefore, classroom debates will be faster than online debates. However, in online debating, we might have to wait to get a reply from the other team. This process can be quite slow and the debate will be never-ending.

Thirdly, online debate does not spark much interest in getting the other team to rebutt. However, in classroom debate, you get to see the person faace to face and will feel a sudden urge to argue with their point.

Fourthly, classroom debates can also train our "brain-power" as we are supposed to think our rebuttals on the spot. However, on online debating, we can take some time to think about our rebuttal so it is actually not as fun as classroom debating.

Side: Opposition
5 points

Classroom debating is more intersting than online debating because classroom debating allows student to speak and think of a rebuttal on the spot within the given time. This helps the student to develop thinking skills and quick reflexes, thus I feel that classroom debating is more interesting and challenging. Classroom debates also helps to improve the speaker's oral skills which is important to a student during his English oral examination. This in turns help to boost the studen's confident in speaking in front of others. On the other hand, online debating gives the speaker a long amount of time to think and rebutt, which is not as fun and challenging as classroom debating.

The excitement won't be there because rebutting online is not a verbal rebuttal. On the other hand, in classroom debating, the atmosphere is there where you will feel like and have to rebutt the other party. In my opinion, classroom debating is much more interesting than online debates. In a classroom debate, there is much more interaction between the debaters and the 'floor', as compared to a debate online. We will be able to hear how the debate is like with our own ears and feel the tension and 'psyched-up' emotions for ourselves. Hi, this is Amanda Lim from 2e3.

I disagree that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating.I feel that classroom debating is more interesting as we are able to see how the person look when he or she debates. At times, it is very interesting to see live debate, looking at what the debators' reactions are. On the other hand, online debating are just merely words.

Secondly, online debating may not be safe. People who join in the debate may say very mean things to fight our stand. They may insult, scold vulgarities and others. These things may hurt people deeply. While in classroom debates, debators will becareful of what they will be saying. Trying best not to offend anyone.

Thirdle,Classroom debates allow debators to think on the spot. This will help the debators in their thinking skills. But for online debates, debators do not really need to think very hard on how to fight the opponent's stand. The online debators would be a little more slack compared to classroom debators.

Side: Opposition
3 points

I disagree. As debating in class can allow the students to bond together better and it can train their thinking ability, as it allows them to think on the spot. If students debate online, they will have all the time in the world to think of a rebuttal or a question. While debating online students can just research online and just copy and paste from the source instead of thinking the rebuttal or the question themselves. When debating in class, students will have to think the rebuttal and question themselves and they would not be able to use the information from the source to rebut without thinking much as they would just copy and paste. Therefore, classroom debating is more interesting.

Debating can help us to hone our public speaking skills as well as our thinking skills as we have to think very quickly of rebuttalson the spot and say it out. i disagree with the topic as i think that class debating is more intersting the online debating. in class, we can show our emontion when debating but online, we can only type out what we think and show others our stand, but nobody knows whether we truly mean the stand that we stood at. in class we can show emotion that can help in more convincing to the judges that we stand at our stand.

I disagree that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating.

This is because in online debating, we cannot express our thoughts with emotions and actions, whereas in classroom debating, we can express our opinions with hand gestures, facial expression and emphasis on words.

For example, in online debates, we can only put emphasis on words by capitalizing the words LIKE THIS. We cannot put more emphasis on our points using hand gestures or facial expression. This is different as compared to classroom debating, where we can make our points stronger by emphasizing on them and including facial expression and hand gestures while expressing our thoughts.

This is because in online debates, we only depend on the keyboard functions and word decorations such as bolding, italicizing and underlining. We can do so much more in classroom debating.

Therefore, I believe that the motion must fall.

I disagree that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating as in the classroom, there are audience. This will give us the spine-tingling sensation. Students tend to get nervous and its nice to see how they get over it. In online debating, the atmosphere is more lay-back while classroom debate is more tense. Emotion, something that is not present in online debating, is also and important as it create a form of excitement in the debate. People can be enthusiastic. To be honest, we like to see people screw up and share laughters. Thats why the motion should fall.

Online debating would definitely triumph when it came down to whether it would be more interesting or not. Online, we tend to be able to express ourselves better than during real-life, when we have the tendency to stutter during presentation. The pressure felt from the audience as you do your debate makes online debating a big plus.

However, I still feel that classroom debating is much better. Within the class, the kind of atmosphere created during the debate can never be experienced online, where all you are facing is the computer screen. I feel that classroom debating would serve as a better opportunity for students to pluck up their courage and cultivate their speaking abilities, and to instill self-confidence in themselves as they deliver their points. Having self-confidence is extremely crucial when one has to step in to the real society and start working. It's also a way to stop computers and technology from dominating our world. Many students in our era tend to lack this, and I think we should find all sorts of ways to bring out the confidence from within. Nowadays, we can find almost anything just by switching on the computer. If even debating should be done online, then little can be done in real life!

So I'd say that classroom debating would be much more beneficial.

Firstly, my definition of debating is that people from the different teams try to prove that their stand is the right one. In the debate they would not care about other people from the other team might hold a grudge against them. After all. if the people debating are so petty, they should not be a debater in the first place. I do not agree that online debating is more fun than classroom debating. In classroom debate, we can get to see who our opponents are, and since it is a classroom debate, we know that that person is our classmates and friends. So, we would not be that cautious about hurting one another feelings, and we are just having a friendly match. However, in online debate, we may be debating with someone from other places. A total stranger. Most people will be very cautious about their words around a stranger. Therefore, it may not be that fun online debating as people will be too scare of hurting one another feelings to be really debating.

Therefore, i do not agree that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating.

I disagree with online debating is more interesting than classroom debating.

For me, I find online debating more difficult to express what I want to than classroom debating, practically, I think expressing them out by words that came from your mouth is easier than typing them out. Just what I'm facing now, lost for words, don't know what exactly should I write about. I find it more convenient by debating in the classroom, rather than facing a dead and lifeless computer, nothing seems to pop up from my brain.

I disagree that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating.

For classroom debating, you can hear what the other team has to say on the spot and you can debate on the spot where as online debating is just posting your stand on the net.

Classroom debating can also train our public speaking skills and make us become better speakers where as online debating is just typing using our fingers and not mouth.

Online debating can be interesting as students nowadays like to use the computer alot. But classroom debating is more challenging because there is time limit and you have to say what you think in 3minutes or so. The debate motion can hence finish faster.

I do not agree that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating. During online debating, people are using much time on typing what they want to say. Classroom debating makes the whole atmosphere fun and they would attract students attention more. Classroom debating is also more efficient as student could say whatever they want immediately. Students could not feel the 'debating' atmosphere during online debating. thus, i disagree that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating.

I feel that classroom debating is much more interesting than classroom debating as the tone in our voice when debating can be felt and the enthusiasm from the debaters is important. This makes the debating atmosphere intense. However, in online debating, there are no actual voices and we are merely seeing the screen and debating. I believe that the atmosphere during debating is important and therefore, I feel that this stand must fall.

I disagree that debating online is more intersting.

When debating online,

We are not able to be face to face to our opponents

And sometimes,

Their facial expressions can be quite interesting too

Thus, it would be less interesting

We are also not able to feel the atmosphere of the debation

Even though we may feel more nervous during classroom debation

It actually helps us to get used of the nervous feeling

Thus when we are suppose to present something next time

We would feel less nervous

LOL.

The end.

Hi, this is Farah from 2E3 =)

I disagree that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating. Firstly, in online debating there tend to be people who will continuously add comments that may be irrelevant to the debate. This include vulgarities, offending other people or gossiping. This may not help for the debate to go on smoothly and in a correct manner.

Secondly, online debating requires views and perspective from different people, and such that there isn't any chairperson and timer, there will be a tendency to copy one another's answers. Also, some people will be inactive and not participate or take a longer time to answer, disabling the teacher to decide on the winner in a faster period of time.

Thirdly, online debating is unable to train students to be more responsive, to project their voice or to encourage group work. This does not help people, especially the quieter ones, to be participative in orals. This also disables them to speak smartly in the future.

Therefore, I think that online debating is not as interesting as classroom debating. =DDD

I am Lynette from 2E4. For this topic, I am strongly against it, as I personally feel that Classroom debate is far more interesting than Online Debate.

For online debate, I can say that it is quite special, however, it is kind of like "boring". Facing in the computer debating, waiting for others to rebutt or support is a kind of foolish thing. Also, facing the computer for too long can harm your eyes, causing short-sighteness. In addition to this, it does not have any atmosphere or laughter, as what we can see or hear, compared to classroom debate.

Whereas, on the other hand, for classroom debate, it is more fun, and I can gained more experience from it. It gives me a greater sense of inspiration, and a great sense of pride when debating. Facing real opponents in life is very different to online debating, with no one that you would face. This can be very reassuring. Besides that, classroom debate can really make me rebutt to opponents, and when I acheive something successful, I feel very proud of my achievement, the feeling is like when you reached a goal in your life.

To compare and contrast with, online debate is so-called a "fake" debate, while classroom debate is so-called a "real" debate. When facing real opponents in life or classroom, it gives me a greater sense of motivation to rebutt to the opponents, until they are completely defeated. I gets encouraged whenever I strongly disagree with a point they rebutt on.

So, to conclude, I feel that online debating is more interesting than classroom debate, as we need to be positive in life, and not be afraid of anything we do. This, we can feel that we have a goal in life. With this, I end my speech.

I think that classroom debating is much more interesting than online debating. Before the actual debate, you have to do research on your main points. Also, you have to think 'on the spot' so this would make the debate more interesting. If its done online, people can take ages to think of the reply and have ample time to 'refine' the answer. In classrooms, you don't get to do that, so your answer will be the first idea that you think of and this will train your thinking and oral skills.

For debates, I don't think there's a need for videos because debating is all about speech. If you want to include evidence, you can print out the statitics related and show it. As such, I still think that face-to-face debating is much more interesting rather than facing a computer and typing.

i disagree on this debate motion as online debating is not as interesting because during online debating we do not have the chance to see if the opponents are confident of their own answer. If they are not confident, it will not be shown on the net. Howhever, if it is debated face to face in classroom, we will be able to see if they are confident of their own reasons and rebuttal. Also, during classroom debating, we can time ourselves to rebutt the opponent within the time limit. Hence, i think that classroom debating is much more challenging and interesting than online debating.

I disagree. When debating in class, you are able to see the opponent. The argument is much more interesting as you can see how they response to your points. When online debating you cannot see the opponent thus you cannot see how they react to your points.

During online debating there is a time limit for the person to say out their points and rebut. This makes the debate much more interesting as you have to say all that you need to say with a time limit. When debating online you can take your time to debate.

I disagree because classroom debate allows one to be fully prepared and depend on oneself , but online debating allows people to seek help from others , or 'gang' together to support their point. The students need to be fully prepared for the research as well as the rebuttals. Also , they need to find loopholes in people's point. Hence , class debating enforce the students with listening skills and also oral as they need to be clear on their stand. On the other hand , online debating doesn't help the students anything but reseach more and see who has a more detailed one.

I disagree that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating as firstly, you can see the expression of people during the debates which gives you a hint on what your opponent might be thinking while in online debates, you do not know what is the reaction of the person.

Also, showing pictures and videos on the computer in class would take up alot of time.

i disagree to the statement as debating in the classroom is feels real as we can debate each other right after each person come up with a point. We can think on the spot and develop thinking skills and also train our debate skills which makes classroom debating more challenging than online debating.

Hello, i'm Lanjia from 2E4.

I totally disagree with this point, of online debating is more interesting than classroom debating.

Firstly, i think that debating in classrooms can allow students to ge the mood of excitement more, since its live on the spot presentation. Classroom debating make the speakers more nervous, thus everyone gets excited. They tend to speak faster so as to not exceed the time limit.

I disagree. Classroom debating is much more exciting as there is audience- audience give feedbacks and ask tough questions. Debate as a team is better than online debating one to one as the others in the group can help to think of more ideas to rebut.

i disagree to your point. who says it is not possible to have emotions online. yes it is true that we cannot speak with feelings and emotions online but we can still write with emotions and feelings online!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a good writer can express his or her feelings through their writing, we may not necessarily need to speak out something in order to show our emotions and feelings. poems, for instance, we can really see the writer"s feelings and emotions. by the way, if you say that online debate is not interesting, why did you post this comment?-irfan 2e4

In my opinion, i think that online debating is not as interesting as classroom debating. You cannot see the expression of your opponents when you managed to give a point which is very hard to rebut back. This feeling gives you a sense of sastification. Not only that, classroom debating is more interesting as it is "LIVE", while behind the computer screen, you can't respond to your opponent the second he/she post his/her argument up.

In that sense, the feel is lost.

In conclusion, i think that classroom debating is defenitely more interesting than online debating.

Hello people, I'm Xiaowei from 2E3 :D

I think classroom debating is more interesting as compared to online debating as the atmostphere of classroom debating is much more dense than online debating. Online debating are opinions voiced out by netizens behind the screen and we can't see how the people feel thus we are not able to feel how they feel.

Therefore I think classroom debating is much more interesting than online debating as we are able to feel the atmostphere of the debate.

I disagree that online debating is more intersting than classroom debating as i feel that debates should be conveyed through expressions and feelings. It is also more interesting compared to online debating as during online debating, all we face is a screen compared to classroom debating where we face the different expressions and tones of people.

Therefore, i strongly feel that classroom debates are more interesting than online debates.

Therefore I disagree.

Side: Opposition

I do not agree that online debating is more interesting than classroom debating because the impact created by online debating is small compared to classroom debating. In a classroom debate, people are able to insert stress and emphasis on words whereas for an online debate, people can only make do with capitalising the words. With that, there is a limit of being able to express and deliver a stand. In that aspect, a classroom debate is definitely more interesting.

i do not agree that online debating is more fun than class debating. As we will not get to see each other expression and it will be hard to figure out what was the actual feeling and expression of the person when he or she was debating it online. Online we will tend to misunderstand the other party emotion as we cant see their expression. Thus, i think class debating is more fun. Especially during class debating we can use actions and expression on face to show and persuade the person better.

Hi hi Yong Ming here...:)

Well I think that online debate is quite interesting as it gives us a brief introduction to the IT world and its many other facilities. However, I personally feel that online debate will make many of us more dependent on the on-the-spot-informations as we will be finding informations on the net while debating. While we have online debate, we will realise that through hard work and perserverence, we will be able to find the information we need, regardless of using the net or physical books. We could also experience the reallife forms of debate when we have classroom debates and it can also give us a chanceto speak in front of everyone, training our public speaking ability.

It will also let us experience first-hand of the heat that is involved in the usual debates and while through the online debate, everything is cold as you are unable to see how heated is the argument, unless your opponent types "!!!!" in his argument.

Therefor, I believe that through classroom debates, we will be able experience what we can't experience what we have during classroom debates. I therefore believe that the motion must fall.

I do not agree that online debating is more intersting than classroom debating. During online debating, we could not get immediate response from the oppenent team and we have to wait for responses. This is not as efficient as classroom debating whereby imeediate responses are given.Furthermore, when having a classroom debating, there is an additional tension among the competitors and the audience. overall, i think that classroom debating is more intersting than online one as it involve more interactions.

I hold differing opinion towards people who feel that debating online is more interesting. In our classrooms, we can express our feelings, our emotions, our unhappiness, anger, remorse, feeling, concern, sentiment over any subjects.

Arguing physically works more efficiently, as there is no need to hide behind a screen while you type your frame of mind out.

Therefore, i dees-er-grwee. (:

Jerome from 2e3,

I do not agree fully to this statement. Debating, in definition, is simply about a discussion, of a public topic, that involves opposing view. A debate can be carried out both online and in real life depending on one's preference, but i'm almost certain most people would prefer to do it online.

Online debating allows the debator more time to think of the question and the answers are more prone to be more detailed and articulate thus, better answer can be found as more thoughts have been put into them.

Debating in real life tests the debator's thinking skills for there is a time limit and the debates tend to be more interesting for it allows for the debator's style to bring out his/her debate - his expression, his tone, his articulation. The views can indeed be as detailed as its counterpart but this hardly is the case.

I've chosen debating in real life over online debating for it is a joy to see others argue over the points and rebut others' in such short amounts of time, it is indeed amazing how other's could think so fast.

I think that classroom debating is more interesting than online debating.. As we can feel the tension between the two teams when the debating is going on. The group members also have to think of the rebuttals while listening to the other team's points. These two of it is cannot be seen in online debating..

Without the recording of rebuttals and the tension while debating, whats left is only the results of the debate.. I believe that nothing could be more interesting than the process of the debate.

Thus, i disagree. (:

i feel that online debating is not as interesting as classroom debating. if your computer is slow to respond,in other words 'laggy', it will not be fair as some people have a head start, while others have to wait for their computer to load. Thus, the result is not fair.

Secondly, it is better if we have a classroom debate as we can practice our oral skills instead of our typing skills. It will improve our speaking ability. With many classroom debates, it will also improve our conversation skills and also let students get use to speaking loudly in english, eventually preparing them for their 'O' levels.

Thus i conclude that classroom debating is more interesting than online debating.
