Our existence is bound by custom and tradition.

Our existence is bound by custom and tradition, they give our existence structure and meaning, a sense of staving off the dreaded  irrational mind, the need to imbue ourselves with a form of life nourished by routine, we are the forces we cannot control, this is how they mold and shape us like ameoba engulfing plankton.

He's done acid recently. Gave him time to think about his insignificance.

Humans are naturally a species of society and order; we have established traditions- even if subconscious at times- and to deviate from them fills us with a sense of dread or even anger. I agree that expectations of society bind us yet in the most basic sense, we can technically escape them. of course by doing so, we would be labeled unnatural, both by the outside world and ourselves because we're by nature, social creatures. Humans cannot exists in a state of true anarchy... to do so would defy the most basic parts of our nature and drive us to assured madness.

True! Our existence depends on our culture and what our ancestors have provided.

If this is true it could explain some of the chaos in 1st world countries, where tradition has been chucked out the window through americanisation.

Wow. I didn't realize the United States was so powerful. It can influence cultures extremely different from its own, peoples whom it has never met, and the very identity of those half a world away.

And yet you also call the United States weak. Hmm...

There's a powerful tool called media, quite often when a British programme is showed on american channels the American television station change a lot of the features (replacing actors, story lines or sometimes changing everything but the title) whereas when an american television programme is showed in Britain we rarely change a thing.

Obviously this is going to have an affect on the population, if you claim this is not so then you are either veri ignorant or have yet to leave your country.

Compared to superpowers in the past, yes. The U.S has done nothing to deserve it's current status as a world superpower. All you've done is laze around after your revolution waiting for the European Empires to beat themselves up. Then you proceed to laze around more and act like you're in charge.
