Our history is a history of progress

Considering what we know so far about history, draw connections between our current society and current events, and the events in history (Columbus), and determine whether or not we have made progress throughout our history.

We've had our ups and downs, we made a LOT of progress up until 1980. From then on it's been a sawtooth. Since 2017 it's been all downhill. That happens when you are being taken over by a dictator who tears down our laws, ignores our Constitution, destroys our reputation and respect with the rest of the world, insults our allies and takes control of our judicial system. That's not progress. :-(

What form of progress are you referring to? Society has continued to become more technologically and scientifically advanced with the passage of time, but politically it has stood still for centuries.

Actually it has been fluctuating from going forward to going backwards, for example in the 20th century we saw the rise of fascism as well as social democracy in europe.

Now look who's salty.

The basic tenets of fascism (i.e. dictatorship, nationalism, expansionism etc...) far predate the 20th century. As for social democracy, that can be traced back to Keynes or even Karl Marx. In fact, Marx is probably responsible for the only serious attempt at political progress in the last three hundred years, and he has been villainised by much of contemporary society.
