Overeating vs Smoking

This debate is actually about this question.

How come it's socially acceptable to chastise a smoker, but not a fat person?

So choose a side based on that. Also please read all of the picture with words, it has a pretty funny, pretty relevant joke in it.

A long joke about calling women fatAss get down from there you're not a back

Yo momma so fat I missed 3 episodes when she walked by the tv

The way I see it, they are both unhealthy life decisions. They should both be fair game without people looking at you like some monster.

Also for the cigarette picture here's a link if you want to read what they say.

Fat people are annoying. Air companies should charge them for extra baggage.

That's unless they have a genuine disorder.

Wow, that's both funny and cruel, but people shouldn't look at you like the asshole for stating it.

If a fat person is taking up your arm rest on the plan you should be able to insult him just as vilely as you would a with a person who was puffing a cigarette or smelled deathly of them. With out public chastisement of course.

I get what you mean, but being fat and smoking are two very different things.

Fat is an adjective, whilst smoking is a verb.

Being fat is an adjective to describe how you look.

Stating to someone that their fat is like saying their ugly, and it is hurtful.

Stating to someone that they smoke, is like saying they are too much on facebook or something, it's not a compliment but neither an insult.

They are both seriously bad lifestyle choices.

They lower your quality and quantity of life.

But I believe in freedom, and if you wanna eat your way to the grave, or ruin pretty much all your organs then feel free to do so, as long as you accept the consequences following with your decision.

Side: Needs to be acceptable

Tolerance needs to be exhibited. Both sides can also be compromised.

Overeating and smoking is wrong because you should be able to eat until your full and not force yourself to eat more. And you shouldn't eat if you are bored, sad, happy, or when you have any kind of emotion. You only eat when you are hungry. Smoking is bad because it can cause lung cancer and get tar on your lungs and heart plus it can trigger breathing problems as well.

Some would argue that over eating is an addiction, just like smoking. So basically they both have little control over doing it, but they do have enough that they could get help for it.

If a person overeats to the point that they start having health issues, you should be just as justified publicly of making fun of their eating issue as you would be of a person who smokes to kill themselves.

They're both killing themselves what's the real difference.
