I prefer PC because it's what I've grown up with.

But I still don't like Macs because they tend to be a lot harder to learn how to do stuff on, and that's coming from a guy who's great with computers.

I hate the mouse and how it doesn't even have a right-click, the keyboard and how it has lame substitute keys with different names, and just the look of Macs is terrible. Some of the programs on Macs are great to use occasionally, but that's about the only good thing I can say about them. Lately they've been getting better, but I'll always stick with the PC.

It's just my preference because it's what I'm used to using. I don't hate Mac, but PC is better in my opinion.

See, I say this because OS X sucks. There's hardly any good software for it and hardly any games for it. Oh, yeah you can get emulation software but any legal software you can get to run windows programs on a Mac are expensive. And if you buy a mac and then decide to buy emulation software... Well... "That's a really expensive windows machine you've got there."

Also, all Mac Computers use proprietary hardware so if you want to upgrade a mac you have to buy parts from Apple. With a monopoly like that, they can charge whatever the hell they want for parts.

Linux on the other hand is open source and powerful as hell, modular and free game for everyone. Because it's open source, everyone can contribute and if a bug is found a patch can be released the next day. Neither Microsoft or Apple have that kind of power and they never will because they don't give a damn what their customers think.

More than half of the servers in the world run Linux because it's powerful, reliable, secure, and smooth. I guess if we're talking on a consumer level, Windows is king and always will be as long as Microsoft doesn't screw up in the near future... Lookin' at you Vista.

But honestly, What does OS X have? A pretty theme? It's utterly useless. Not because it has absolutely no features but because you can have all of those features and a lot more with windows or linux. Plus it's not a bitch to upgrade your rig if you feel the need to.

I don't know where you got your source for that but it's a lie. OS X is a heavily modified and customized Unix. It lacks libraries and dlls and compatability with those libraries in order for it work work with all Linux applications.

Hey, don't fault it because it's free. That's just all the more reason not to buy an expensive ass mac and build a Linux machine instead.

You'd be surprised how many games use Direct X instead of Open GL. Plus, it's NOT just the graphics libraries that count. It's the fact that most of these games are built and compiled exclusively to run with windows machines because macs just aren't a good market for games.

They're also significantly overpriced, since you're also paying for the "brand". Take a Mac and a PC with matching specs, and the Mac will cost $1k more.

Well my mac is fine with documents, but I only use Microsoft word for papers in school. I think my PC is perfect for gaming. That's the best thing about PC. But I like the simplicity of the Mac. It's easy to use and not overcomplicated like the PC I have.

PC came first and they have every option with a touch of a button and with a mac you have to but all these infared things and software.

5. Windows 7 is being reviewed as a much better OS than any other currently available, even in its early Release Candidate stage, so the "vista sucks" argument is pretty much out the door this time (and Vista didn't suck that bad, the service packs helped it out a lot).

Macs just kind of seem like you have less freedom over your computer, as if your locked in! A PC is complicated and less simple, but who said that we wanted to be locked in such a small cage.

Actually, that was the biggest downfall of the Mac for me. But the other day I was in school running the Mac on Windows XP (Bootcamp) and I couldn't figure out how to get this menu up and I... well... right clicked. There is no divide or anything, you just put the pressure on the right side of the mouse, and bam. Right-click away.

All macs have had right click since around 2006, and had the OS recognizing right click even before that. Even the track pads have two click now... before that it was Control+click. Lame substitute keys? Keyboard shortcuts are 100% unified in OS X, every key combination is the same no matter what application, and same in Finder.

When you're talking about the difference here, it's Windows vs Unix. Unix (linux too) and OS X work, essentially, the same way, leaving Windows on it's own... and still you think that windows is doing everything the right way?

Apple hardware is not proprietary, they all use standard hardware, foxconn motherboards, Intel processors, Intel and Nvidia chipsets, standard EFI instead of BIOS, the memory and hard drives, all the same. Even before that when they were on the PPC platform it wasn't proprietary. The reason you can't upgrade though is because when you're done and you boot OS X won't recognize the hardware because Apple has drivers built for OS X or optimizes the drivers for use in a controlled environment, rather than using the drivers developed that allow all of the hardware to loosely fit with every other set of hardware out there, like they do for PC's. If you wanted you could use Windows with all of your updated hardware, but unless OS X recognizes the hardware you just cannot use OS X. In some cases even, Mac Pro's can be just as upgradable as a PC, and when I say "most cases" I mean all of the newer quad cores can be upgraded to support the latest i7's and graphics cards.

2.) My source is reality, I do this all of the time. OS X uses the Mach kernel (developed to replace the kernel in BSD) and the subsystem of OS X is FreeBSD! OS X is a unix OS, and unix OS's run unix applications.

3.) Tell a unix guru that OS X isn't based on Unix, and then tell the same person that Unix is incapable of adapting to hardware. It's not the INABILITY, it's their goal. Their goal isn't to sell 23908420398429048 different pieces of hardware. Their goal is to make a quality computer, which doesn't mean you can add 290423094209834049 different graphics cards. OS X is proprietary, but that wasn't your argument, you said the HARDWARE is proprietary.

These comparisons are made all of the time because people are still ignorant of the fact that Macs are equal if not cheaper than their competitor's high end builds. Like I said though, you'll get raped if you add memory :(

I use iWork, mainly because I don't want to pay for a word processor/spreadsheet app/presentation app. I don't use any of them enough to justify purchase and I don't make money with any of it. Word is harder to pirate and costs more, so I don't see the use.

I have a Macbook Pro though, the 5,5 (Unibody), I use it for gaming though (in Windows 7) and it works great for being a laptop. CoD4 on high settings @ 1440x800 w/ 2xAA and I'm getting >70FPS at all times, ran Crysis @ 20-30 FPS too, also set to Moderate with 4xAA. All steam games run @ absolute highest settings at over 90FPS :)

The only thing is, the machine costs $2700, which I'm fine with because I can afford it, and it's powerful for a laptop without looking retarded AND I can legally run OS X. I do a little programming though too, and OS X is a great environment for that.

I never used Macs and was rather against them. Until I bought my first Mac. A $3,000 MacBook Pro changed my mind. Since I know nothing about computers, fair pricing, operating systems, gaming, etc., I love my Mac. It's so easy (and actually fun) to use, and, as a photographer, iPhoto has fantastic editing features, like levels, that most standard programs don't.
