Artan described himself as a pious and scared Muslim in an interview with the Ohio State student newspaper in August.
"I wanted to pray in the open, but I was scared with everything going on in the media," he told The Lantern after transfering from Columbus State Community College. "I'm a Muslim, it's not what the media portrays me to be. If people look at me, a Muslim praying, I don't know what they're going to think, what's going to happen. But, I don't blame them. It's the media that put that picture in their heads so they're going to just have it and it, it's going to make them feel uncomfortable. I was kind of scared right now. But I just did it. I relied on God. I went over to the corner and just prayed."
NBC News's Pete Williams reported on-air that Artan made a Facebook post lamenting the treatment of Muslims worldwide just before the attack on Monday morning. "I am sick and tired of seeing [Muslims] killed & tortured EVERYWHERE. ... I can’t take it anymore," the posting read, according to ABC News. "America! Stop interfering with other countries ... [if] you want us Muslims to stop carrying [out] lone wolf attacks.

The article I took this excerpt from said the Muslim murderer was in his third year studying for logistics supervisor. Wouldn't it have been great if he became a head dispatcher of a trucking company and could guide his fellow Muslim semi drivers in and out of our manufacturing, medical, and military facilities, schools, sporting events, airports and everywhere else that Muslims what to play? It is quite hypocritical of him to be blaming us for such violence. It is reasons for theocracies like Iran and Afghanistan that such atrocities happen. We invaded Afghanistan to stop the constant murdering of thousands and public executions of many. Maybe if Muslims were actually tolerant, my perspective would change, but they show to be bloodthirsty freaks. This is what Islam is all about, pretending to be the victims of Jews and Christians and as victims they believe they are justified to kill all Jews and Christians by any means necessary and they are taught Allah will reward them. It really is nothing new, it was foretold in the Bible in the days of Abraham that the Arabs would be fighting each other and everybody until the end of the age, and it was foretold that they would be a thorn in Israel's side because Israel failed to destroy groups of them when they were told by God to destroy whole nations or tribes. The Muslim nations now are making alignments with Russia and China. We tried to keep some of them aligned with us but it's a waste because they will always be fighting against each other and they will always be fighting against Israel and against Christians and Hell bent (Hell being a place, using it not as a profanity here but an indicator of the source and end of their desires in their religion).......Hell bent on conquering the world. God Himself as the Man Jesus Christ will come back and put down all evil governments and all of His enemies will meet their doom. There will be a false Christ first, a world dictator Muslims will embrace as their Mahkdi or however they spell the world for their messiah. The two sides of apostasy. From two opposite directions. The climb that one goes from the most violent is sanctified in Islam to degrees of less violent which is apostate in Islam. Where in Christianity the most violent are evil and depravity in apostasy. A Goat! And every degree closer to Christ is less violent but still apostate. The disciple is martyred over violence. And that is considered a joy in Heaven. So for the Muslim, strict ferverent Islam is the most violent of them. Each degree less violent the not ferverent according to their evil god allah, who is Satan. And his evil prophet mohammad, who is burning! Every degree that is less violent than the ferverent most violent is apostate in Islam. The polar opposite is true of Jesus, who judges viloent evil men, and vengeance is His in His day of judgment. In Jesus we lay our lives down in this world. We are not of this world, we live in it and do good in it, but we do not get tangled in the violence and bitterness of it. We are salt and light. So Christianity starts in the polar opposite direction of Islam. Disciples of Christ, who loves Him with all of their hearts are not violent, or bitter, or brutal, nor vengeant. Every degree of that is considered apostate, as the fallen move toward violence. The ultimate in violence as seen in many activisms and political apostasy is the highest degree, but Jesus said we can be guilty of murder in our hearts. Catholicism and murder of every kind is the darkest symptom possible in the heart of an apostate so called Christian. But a bitter heart is guilty also!And please think! If God's law and presence, and His people Jews, and Christians were not in the world pushing back evil, and holding down evil by sweet influence of good, adding salt and light, do you really think man would have had good left in them at all? I feel wonderful because I thank God for His mercy which is the only thing new in this world moment by moment. I thank God for being good, I thank Him for forgiving my sins, I thank Him for dying in my place, I thank Him for the hope he gives me which endures and carries me through the pains, sorrows, disappointments, and difficulties in this world, I thank Him in and for all things because He is good and I know everything will be far more wonderful, far better, than anything i can begin to imagine when I see Him face to face and am forever changed to be like Him in His glory enjoying all of His blessings in His kingdom of Heaven and I will forever bow to Him and forever praise Him and serve Him joyfully......loser, you are fighting on the wrong side. This is the first time in a long long time you actually offered decent human conversation presenting a view contrary to my own. If you hadn't been so long high on my jack ass list, I would not have responded to you without reading your post and I would not have banned you before you could reply. I'm not so sure about your estimate of Americans killing far more moozies than moozies have killed Christians. Persecution, torture and murder of Christians has been going on a long time in Moozie countries and even in Buhdist fat man lands and is getting worse. The Muslim countries are trying to wipe out Christians in their boders, even fake Christians called Catholic "Coptic" Christian. Moozies hate fake Christians as much as they hate real Christians. And I do not call the USA a Christian nation though it was dedicated to God in a ceremony led by George Washington on the church grounds which later became ground zero where the Twin Towers were built before Moozie knocked them down. We would have done well to wipe out Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia after that attack.....should have just went in and leveled all four countries and bulldozed the rubble into the desert. We should have just told Russia and China they can deal with us after we level those Muslim devils and there would be no need for nuclear war......of course until Russia or China got up the nerve to push for what they really want, control of the world. Your not really applying history accurately. Not sure of its deflective as a strawman argument on purpose, or if you really believe that made up version. Christians were martyred. The Pope was no Saint! Some popes were as evil as Hitler! As sheep we have to be wise, and to watch out for big bad wolves that look like sheep.
