logically this would be about selling your blue print about your car not your car in piticular because a music producer would already have a music disk of his own before he releases it the public. but if you were to sell your "blue print" of your car on the internet then people would just buy one then upload it to google or something then your would lose almost 100% of your profit. you wouldn't be able to call the police because unless you figured out where they uploaded it. but by the time you did call the police (once your found where they are selling it for free of course) it would have been downloaded by over millions of people already. you could stop it but then by blocking one others could just put up more and more. punishing them by blocking them out of the internet or sending them a fine when they upload them would solve you losing any problems. While I don't condone illegal downloading, I also don't condone legislation that enables businesses to refuse to adapt their business model to changes in technology. We have enough legislation that blatantly favors archaic business models as is. Let them adapt or die. Moreover, legislation in their favor merely postpones the inevitable; these industries simply have to change in the face of modern tech, and insulating them from these changes only reinforces the old habits. The industry is more likely to survive if it has to start adapting now than if it stays the course until tech renders their model completely unprofitable- which could happen extremely quickly.
