Plastic products are today used by all. If we will ban the use of plastics, more number of trees will be cut to make furniture, paper and so on. The important issue is proper disposal of lower grade plastic products. if there is a suitable system of plastic disposal, then there is no cause for worry. Side: Plastics are beneficial

I wasn't the one who downvoted you, but I'll respond. Admittedly paper may weigh more then plastic, and therefore produces less CO2 emissions, but there are other factors to consider. Paper for example comes from trees. Trees absorb CO2. Assuming the trees are being grown for the future use of making paper products, the the trees would more then likely absorb enough CO2 to make up for the weight difference. Also, because paper is a natural product, when it is thrown away it degrades naturally and doesn't significantly harm the ecosystem. Plastic on the other hand is not biodegradable and stays on the earth forever (see argument on other side of debate). If trees are just being cut down and not replanted the issue becomes more complicated, but in general I would still say that plastic is more harmful. Side: plastics are harmful
i'll admit that plastics are harmful, but that doesn't make them beneficial. currently, the law is to replant any trees that are cut down, that still doesn't change the fact that an entire tree has been cut down. now, i support "Green Bags", mainly because they can be reused over 9000 times and only can help stores make money instead of lose money as plastic and paper does. the fact is, if we're just replanting, that doesn't change the fact we are still producing more carbon by using paper instead of plastic. if we leave the trees and only use plastic, we would still produce carbon. and, paper is much harder to recycle than plastic... i do my part though, i use neither (use Green Bags... well, mine are black) Side: Plastics are beneficial

Plastic is beneficial because if a thing has all bad quality why should we use them.plastic has advantage also.if plastic is not burned or dumped then the plastic is not harmful. It should be managed properly to avoid harmfulness. It is used to carry to things, store food etc... So,it is very useful and beneficial... Side: Plastics are beneficial
What Harinisaa premised upon is very right. When does plastic create deadly diseases? When it is misused. See, when you know that using plastic containers in microwaves makes the plastic 'melt'- then why do it? Plastic containers are not supposed to be microwaved!! It has many other beneficial uses like in the bottling industries, electronic industries etc. Side: Plastics are beneficial

Throughout human history people have polluted/littered/thrown shit on the ground. Up until plastics though, it wasn't a big deal because most of the things we littered with were biodegradable. Now we have materials that cannot be broken down naturally. That means once they are put into the environment, they stay there, forever. What's even worse though is that they become tiny little plastic pellets that are virtually impossible to clean up. So what happens to all this plastic if it never goes away? Well, a lot of it ends up in the ocean. In fact right now their are two gigantic regions in the pacific ocean (the largest of which is twice the size of Texas) that contain high concentrations of plastic particles. They formed from ocean currents taking plastic debris to places that, ordinarily, would be nutrient rich areas of ocean. Why is this a problem? -Did I mention the small pellets of plastic are toxic? Fish ingest them and, when we eat fish, we are eating them too. -It is, at this point in time, 100% impossible to clean it up. The sheer size and nature of the pollution means that we have no way to collect the plastic, and therefore it will remain there and continue to grow, unless some act of God (haha...God) cleans it up. What's troubling is our society's dependence on plastic. Can you imagine a modern world without it? What would happen to all the plastic bottles we drink, or the food that is packaged? Unless serious recycling efforts are put in place the situation will continue to worsen until it fucks up our entire ecosystem. Side: plastics are harmful

plastics are harmful for the environment, but they are also used widely around the world. i think that plastic should be properly recycled, and then they would not be so bad. but people in places like India are not doing so, and plastic in these environments continue to be harmful. PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Side: plastics are harmful

i am an Indian , and I am proud to be so . I personally , in fact most of the people avoid using plastics it is just that the illiterate people are not aware of the harmful effects of it and it is very useful to them . plastics are harmful , well we cannot stop it immediately but each one of us shall make efforts to decrease the use of plastics . Side: Plastics are beneficial
They are not harmful... Come on! If you people use it properly, why is it harmful? And yes you are right. India has a very poor recycling capacity and that's what we should change!! You need to break a few eggs to make an omelet... To help the increase of plastics is to develop the scientific needs of the world because plastics are very much malleable and ductile. We cannot just stop producing plastics because of some people not having awareness of how to use them properly. As we being one of the first generations to use plastics very frequently in our lives, we have to teach the future generations on how to make plastics safer.. Side: Plastics are beneficial

1. If people don't accumulate plastics and reuse or recycle them, why is there an accumulation of plastics? 2.The longevity of plastics can lead us to the use of plastics in a better scope because of their longevity only. Like in the future, we might need a material to not rot away and just stay there for a very long time. Plastics can fill in those needs. Side: Plastics are beneficial
plastics are harmful to our environment.but we can prevent it from recycling it.but more we recycle more plastics will increase automatically.so the only way that we can save our environment is to reduce it.so more we reduce less plastics will remain in this environment.by this i am telling that plastics are harmful to our environment Side: plastics are harmful
didnT you know that plastics have polyvinyl chloride.Since 1950, plastics have played an omnipresent part of our daily lives. They are everywhere and globally we use more than 260 million tons of plastic each year. Most of the marine debris in the world is comprised of plastic materials (between 60 to 80% of total marine debris). Field studies have shown that mega- and macro-plastics have concentrated in the highest densities in the Northern Hemisphere, adjacent to urban areas, in enclosed seas and at water convergences. The longevity of some plastics is estimated to be hundreds to thousands of years! The environmental impacts resulting from the accumulation of plastic waste are huge and increasing. Plastic debris affects wildlife, human health, and the environment. The millions of tons of plastic bottles, bags, and garbage in the world's oceans are breaking down and leaching toxins posing a threat to marine life and human. Plastic materials in landfills sink in harmful chemicals into groundwater. Chemicals added to plastics are dangerously absorbed by humans like altering hormones. Research on plastics includes a large and robust literature reporting adverse health effects in laboratory animals and wildlife at even low doses. Plastic debris is ingested by hundreds of species choking and starving them. Floating plastic debris can spread invasive species. Side: plastics are harmful

Plastics are harmful the earth and animals. Many animals die because they consume the plastics that are being thrown away. Plastics take a very long time to disentrigate unlike the others. Paper and other materials used to make things can be replanted unlike plastic. Plastic is a hand made thing that makes it not eco-friendly. Side: plastics are harmful
