Ok. Mainly to start off. How do you think that the right has racial tendencies?

It may seem like semantics, but it isn't that I think the right has racial tendencies. It's that I believe that of the times that race is used, particularly within a negative context, it tends to come more often from the Right. To qualify this, I am talking about media and politicians, not random people on the street.

I have to say though that the left tend to have racial tendencies too. The most prime example of which is affirmative action. The act of having individuals get into college or a certain job based simply on the color of their skin and not based on individual merit and achievement is, to me, a racist policy.

Racism: a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.

Affirmative Action policies are predicated upon the fact that certain ethnicities in this country have less access to higher education than others, which serves to further reinforce the socioeconomic and education divides between them. The purpose of this policy is to prevent this reinforcement from being more entrenched. In that sense, it is actually the exact oppose of racism, by definition.

That said, I'm not a fan of Affirmative Education, but on utilitarian grounds. Studies show that the majority of non-white recipients of Affirmative Action are actually middle class, which means that the intended beneficiaries are still left out. It is for this reason that I would personally change affirmative action to be predicated upon socioeconomic status, not race.

Still, the attempts wouldn't be necessary if it wasn't for the fact that these people are already not receiving equal treatment for hiring and school admittance because of the color of their skin (and not based on individual merit and achievement). If everyone was being treated the same regardless of ethnicity, Affirmative Action wouldn't have been pushed for in the first place.

Acknowledging that problems revolving around ethnic identity exist is not itself racist. If you want to call that "racial tendencies" then that is fine, but there isn't anything inherently wrong with it.

Even people of low socioeconomic status have access to education. All it takes is go to the University of Phoenix website, fill out the application, and literally take online college courses for free.

If you could also give me a specific example of when the right was racist, I'll be happy to address it.

If you want I can make a larger list, but I'll stick with a few current ones. The Republican front runner, Donald Trump, proposing to ban Muslims from entering the United States.

Now I know you are probably going to say "Muslim isn't a racist", but the problem is that screening done on Muslims and public perception of Muslims in the United States directly correlates with people who are ethnically Middle Eastern, despite the fact that they are actually a minority of Muslims. This was a direct, racist form of fear mongering.

There's also his comments on Mexican immigrants when he claimed that they were drug peddlers and rapists, despite the fact that Mexican immigrants are incredibly hard working and necessary for our economy.

I could also go with the primary Conservative news outlet, FOX. I could create a seemingly endless list of racism from FOX, but I'll go with the most glaring one: the "terrorist fist jab".

I could also go down the historic route, and point out that Conservatism was the ideological force behind the Confederacy's fight to maintain slavery, Jim Crowe Laws, etc.

I consider myself a Republican, however I in no way do I support Trump (he's my least favorite candidate on the Republican side). Trump's plan to ban Muslims isn't constitutional. With that said, I support not just screening Muslims that enter the country, but rather EVERYONE that enters the country. I also don't think screening Muslims is fear mongering at all. Muslims commit a majority of the terrorist attacks in this country. (I haven't seen a lot of Presbyterians and English terrorist groups attacking the U.S.). Illegal immigrants coming in from Mexico are getting arrested by the Border Patrol not for crossing the border. A majority of the arrests are for possession of Black Tar Heroin, and then the Border Patrol finds out that they are undocumented after they arrest them. Democrats actually fought for the Confederacy, the only Democrat to remain in Washington was Abraham Lincoln's Vice President: Andrew Johnson. The Republican Party wrote the 13, 14, and 15th Amendments. Southern Democrats wrote and proposed the Jim Crow laws. Etc.

I accepted, but I have a bit of an issue with this debate. It was my understanding that we were debating whether one of the two parties (or ideological affiliations) employed more analytical or emotional rhetoric.

I personally take issue with saying either Republicans or Democratics as a whole are racist, despite there being racists in both. I suppose if you want to do an argument on which of the two parties tends to have more overt racist rhetoric then we would have something to argue, however. But the debate, as it stands, is one without a side that I can actually take.
