From a legal standpoint: Sure, why not? It's peoples' own decision if they want to get married to several people. All the government should be concerned about are tax issues and couples' rights. Besides that, who is the government to tell you how many people you can marry?

From a moral standpoint: That's really weird and I certainly would not take advantage of its legality, but that doesn't mean we should ruin it for other people.

If beliefs such as gay marriage, pre marital sex etc are acceptable why shouldn't polygamy be acceptable? Provided all parties agree that is.

Polygamy is quite ok in my eyes,if everyone involved is a consenting adult. However personally, my loyalty sits with one man, and my "green-eyed" monster,so it would not be my personal preference.

May i add........That, on that note, these families should however ensure that good parenting will teach their children that their,(the adults) own choice of relationship/marriage/family is not strictly limited to thier,(the adults)choice.Basically i mean that they should raise their child/children with the knowledge that the option of a monogomous relationship/marriage/family is just as acceptable.

i can understand religion being a factor for people but that cannot be a factor in the governments chose

2 arguments...#1 does government have an abiding interest in outlawing it, and i for one, can not figure out any reason. (same would go for gay marriage and would support why pedophilia would never be legal)

2nd argument from a practical standpoint it makes a ton of logistical sense in terms of being able to manage childcare, managing the home, while having multiple incomes

i do not think that it is necessarily sexist. it would depend on the people themselves. i can also see that it may strengthen marriage, may reduce the numbers of mostly men causing divorce by having affairs and reduce the number of children being raised by single mothers etc...

i support the idea of plural marriages where any of the spouses can bring in additional partners. you would obviously have to work out the rules and it would not be for everyone, but going back to argument #1, i don't think government has a good reason to outlaw

If someone's religion says polygamy is O.K., then polygamy should be legal for them.
