"Real" Democracy Is Not Feasible & Not Possible to Attain

Many countries have tried to institute a democratic society, however, many of these societies seemed to have proven that "real" democracy is simply not feasible and not possible to attain. The US might be an example to consider, with the conflicts in their policies and so much disagreement, chaos, and so much unrest over what is right, especially in the postmodernist culture, where relativism dominates most worldviews and determines an individual's values.

Even Switzerland, who was seen as a role model for direct democracy actually applies indirect democracy. Greece has also abandoned the model. It can be argued that direct democracy tends to bring about unrest, intolerance and injustice. So why do we still believe that democracy works and is still desirable?

What's your take? Pls substantiate your arguments clearly.

The United States of America is a Constitutional Republic. Progressives are the only ones that blabber about Democracy. Look no further than Obie and no other explanation is needed.

On a scaled down example of your statement look at Northern Ireland.

One party representing the Unionist section of the community ruled over the Provence for decades with a bias in favour those who wished to remain part of the U.K.

Democracy in this form caused a polarization between the those wishing for a United Ireland and the Unionists.

The upshot of this one sided democracy was 30 long years of carnage and destruction.

The bloodbath didn't stop until a Power Sharing Executive was formed and both sides had equal rights.

So, democracy didn't work in Northern Ireland and never will.

If you begin to ignore the masses when it suits you, you will do the same when it becomes tyrannical.
