Religious Segregation
Should people of vastly different faiths not come into contact with one another? Is 'segregation' okay for religious beliefs?

I’m getting pretty fed up with the common attitude that people of two different faiths cannot be friends, or in more extreme cases, not even be acquaintances. I am very good friends with a devout Christian. I am a devout Satanist. Doesn’t that mean we should like hate each other, seeing as our beliefs should oppose each other? No you ignorant twat, it does not. If you are ignorant enough to believe something like that then you need to get a reality check. Just because someone believes differently to you it doesn't mean you can’t learn from the other person and begin to understand more as to why they believe in what they do, on top of this, someone’s faith (or lack of) doesn't define the rest of their personality. So stop with this stupid bullshit, I thought people would be well educated enough by now to realise that someone’s religion doesn't make them a good or bad person. 489 days ago | Side: Against

I couldn't agree more. I am also a Satanist, and friends with Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists, Wiccans, an even Thelemists. My religion affects my philosophies, but not my personality or my ability to get along with others. People really should maintain an open mind about these things. Religious segregation is an awful thing to consider, especially because the more...minor religions would live in a very small world indeed. Not to mention religious toleration in general would go out the window. I am eager to see who would actually support segregation! 489 days ago | Side: Against
Let me start by saying it's nice to see your back. :) Now to the topic at hand. I love being able to discuss religion with others and here the other side of an opinion. It makes me more knowledgeable and possibly helps me understand someone else's reasoning more. I would think that segregation would just make people ignorant.... Or more ignorant I guess. 489 days ago | Side: Against

Segregation of any kind is a bad idea; It leads to isolation and prevents the free exchange of ideas. We should surround ourselves with people of different backgrounds so that we are exposed to different perspectives, different values and beliefs. We can only benefit from integration. 489 days ago | Side: Against
