Sometimes, when I read the newspapers, I fell bad about British politics. We have a toff as a Prime Minister, his kinky slave as deputy, a bitter drinking alcoholic as foreign secretary, and quite possibly the dullest man on the planet to oppose them all. Not to mention the cartoon-esque Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, who looks like he should be working on a children's TV program. Basically, it looks like we're fucked.

Then I look at America, and see the Republicans. Then I don't fell so bad! Thanks America! I don't know why, but this song always reminds me of the fact that whoever we have, America has the Republicans.

All together now!

Let's look at the money.

You have a group of rich people. They decide to start a business, and employ 100 people, and pay them all $1 million/year. Those 100 people have jobs because of the money the rich people have.

Those 100 people with jobs now have money, lots of money. They don't shop at Wal-Mart, they shop at high end stores and restaurants. These stores and restaurants make more money, and hire more people, because of the increase in demand.

So, the workers in the shops are making $200,000/year. They shop at Macys and Dillards, and eat out at Applebees. Their business helps those stores and restaurants, and helps them to hire more people.

So, the workers at those stores make $50,000/year. They shop at Walmart and Target. Their money pays for the minimum wage, and slightly above jobs at those stores.

Demand is all about the cash flow. The more money people spend, the more it circulates through the economy. There is more demand, so more jobs, and more wealth for everybody.

That is how money 'trickles down'.

That's a nice little theory you have there, but it is not backed by empirical evidence. In fact, the evidence CONTRADICTS what you are saying.

Wow. A down-vote without a response.

Republicans are so mature...

What evidence?

Have you ever been hired by a poor person or a bankrupt company?

Look at any job, I don't care what it is, but look at any non-governmental job. Who is responsible for that job existing?

Sweden was struggling tremendously in the 1990s, with one of the highest tax rates in the world. Suddenly, they had an idea to lower taxes, and now they are one of the strongest economies. Go figure, letting people keep their money means they have money to spend. Money spent is money circulating, and money circulating is what creates demand.

Can you show me how jobs and demand are created without using money?

The problem with this dreamworld theory is that history says otherwise. No one starts a company and pays employees $1 million/year. They pay them as little as possible so that they (the business owner) can profit as much as possible. Business is not structured to benefit the employees as much as possible, it is structured to benefit the owner. When corporations have massive layoffs and record profits, how does that fit in?

"Republicans are so gullible..." I'm sorry, as opposed to...?

Well okay, I'm not really a republican but I don't think it's fair to call out an entire political party and their followers without at least admitting that the other half has some pretty gullible followers too. Then again I'm a pessimist so whatever.

A considerable amount of Republicans are gullible because they want to believe in a Party that caters to their Conservative fantasy world.
