Uhhhh..... here's a copy and past for ya:

When sea water is warmed and evaporates into the atmosphere, the salt that it contains is left behind. When this water precipitates over land in the form of rain or snow, it feeds freshwater bodies such as rivers and lakes. When fresh water moves over rocks, it dissolves a little of the rock, thereby picking up salt.

Yes, what he said...but I also want to add that if rivers ran from the sea, then they would definitley be salty. Oh, and while we are at it, the name of the water where the frash water and salt water mix is called brackish.

Yeah.... I've always wanted to start a brackish fish tank. Puffers can live in brackish water.
