Well they programmed the A.I. to be selfish rather than altruistic; it's goal was to get the most apples possible. As such, sabotaging it's competitor makes sense because every apple the rival takes is an apple the A.I. cannot take. That said, if/when we become dependent on advanced A.I.s in the future those who control these machines will control the world. Side: NO!!! FUCK THAT!!!
Actually, they weren't programmed to be either selfish or Altruistic; they programmed it to be neither. They implemented a umber of Machine learning techniques likely using reinforcement learning processes to get to the most optimal strategy: which in this case lead to the result. There's a couple of follow ups, I would like to make. The bad news is that we are absolutely dependent on advanced AI's. In many respects, the modern world would basically fall apart if you removed everything that falls under the umbrella of "AI", which runs a significant amount of technology today. The good news is that despite that alarmist woo, when you actually start learning about AI; you realize in many respects it isn't fully what people think, and the leap to get to something truly dangerous is likely much larger than many appreciate. The scary, scary news is that once that leap is made (which could be with one single invention), it's going to be a matter of a few months before the potential for danger! Side: Yes

What I meant by a society dependent on advanced A.I.s is one where they drive our cars, clean our streets, do our jobs etc. I do appreciate we are getting there but we aren't there yet. Side: NO!!! They probably will, but only if they follow the word of the Lord Jesus Christ and repent their robotic sins. The problem is that robots have no conscience nor soul and may find it difficult to compute the reason why they have to worship a MAINFRAME GOD which they cannot detect. Side: NO!!! FUCK THAT!!!
