Most of the African countries at the time of slavery lacked the executive ability and political savoir faire to organise and maintain administrations with effective public services such as defense and national cohesion. The ruthless slave traders, black and white, exploited the unsophisticated, childlike mentality of the tribal blacks so they ended up as slaves. To this day there are those who trade in people trafficking and slave trading. The weak are still falling victim to such organizations as Boko Harum. There will always be scoundrels who will exploit the weak minded and vulnerable. Instead of Blacks feeling resentment against those small band of Whites who engaged in this barbarity, they should direct their anger towards their guileless and gullible ancestors. The freedom to own and abuse a human slave as you would a farm animal is in a way easier to justify if you are anti surveillance so the government can turn a blind eye. The issue is that you forget the rights of the slave and that liberty applies to the slave so your theoretical extreme is false. Side: Plantation politics
