It seems to me that school lunches are to high. For example, in my school the cost of juice was more expensive than in ordinary grocery stores for approximately 15%. However, it was only for high school pupils, And in Almaty (Kazakhstan) all primary schools pupils have lunches for free. Side: yes

I am not aware of the circumstances of your school lunch prices. Care to elaborate? Some lunches are very expensive, while others are rather cheap. It depends on where you live, I suppose. As for health, most school lunches are very bad for you. Cafeterias rarely cook their own meals anymore, as seen in the documentary "Supersize Me". Instead, they reheat frozen meals sent to them and sell sugary snacks and soft drinks, not necessarily soda, but other high-sugar drinks. I think schools should change their ways and cook healthy food for our youth and schools should start selling nutritional snacks and beverages, like fruit, baked chips, pretzels, etc, and juice. Actually the state governments subsidize school lunches in that the government pays for a portion of each meal so the students will not have to pay as much. They are very cheap regardless. And for those who truly cannot afford school lunches, there are programs that will allow you to eat for free. Side: No
School lunches should be included in the budget when you're enrolling at the beginning of the year. This makes it easier to "not forget to purchase a lunch ticket" or "forget to store money in your account". The menu should just include the basic hot lunch or deli sandwhich, a side, and drink. If anyone wants extras like pop, milkshakes, candy bars, ice cream, etc. then they should pay cash for them on the spot. This makes the system easier. Side: No
$2.50 for a lunch vs the average price of $5 to grab a lunch anywhere else (subway, fast food, whatever)... doesn't seem like it's too high a price. It'd probably be somewhat cheaper to bring your own lunch, or even go to the store and buy a pre-made salad or sandwich, but overall, probably not that much cheaper. So... no, $2.50 for a school lunch seems pretty low actually. Side: No
