New religions bring light to the absurdity of old ones. There's nothing less believable about Scientology than a virgin-birthed zombie human sacrifice being three people at once and saving souls but only if you really really really believe that story and not if you are just a good person.

I mean really humans, wtf? This is embarrassing.

Yes, it is a religion. Just because Scientologists are atheists does not make it a non-religion. Religion is a collection of belief systems, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to spirituality and, sometimes, to moral values. Those belief systems can be absurd or rational. They can involve a belief in deities or a belief in natural phenomenon. But it's still a religion.

All religion is irrational, so I don't see why scientology shouldn't be classified as religion.

Yes, I understand Religion is much more like a large Occult, but Scientology doesn't even deserve this title.

If you lived your life without knowing what monotheistic or polytheistic religion was, then you would think that the idea of Christianity and Islam are just as crazy as you currently think Scientology is. So just because Scientology is so far out doesn't make it any less of an irrational mess of dogma than the other valid religions.

I have heards stories of people blocked from leaving the church of scientology, and those who manage to do so are excommunicated by their friends and family. There are even claims of continued harassment after leaving the church of scientology of church officals trying to strong arm ex-members into not talking bad about the church.

There is even quite a bit of alleged abusement of mentally disabled members of the church of scientology.

As a Catholic, i feel like i have to admit that there have been quite a few officials Representative in the history of the Catholic Church who failed to make the right decisions, so it would be hypocritical of me to say that no good will ever come from Scientology. But at the moment i feel that the Church of Scientology's methods of managing it's community is more like a cult than a true religion.
