Seattle residents complained about a "Confederate Flag". It was the Flag of Norway !
Eager to get the scoop, reporters for the Seattle Times hopped into a car and hightailed it to view the offending flag for themselves. Only it turned out they weren't in for quite the controversial sighting they'd anticipated.
“That’s a Norwegian flag,” said the Norwegian owner of the flagpole in question. “It’s been up there since the start of the Olympics."

Flags stir emotions in every country around the world. Unlike the Star Spangled Banner and the Britain's Union Jack many flags are difficult to instantly identify. Those with an over developed sense of patriotism are usually the ones who will demonstrate, or even riot against the flying of a flag which they perceive to represent a threat to their traditional way of life and heritage. The flying of the Confederate flag could be like a red rag to a bull to black people as some of them may see it as a symbol of slavery, but we must be mindful of the great contribution the Confederate States has made, and continues to make to the prosperity of America. Really rich! The Progressives confused the Norwegian red-and-blue banner for the Confederate stars-and-bars. Again it is evident that the Progressives live in a perpetual State of Confusion and always looking for something to complain about ! I have Norwegian ancestors, believe in States Rights, and now I live in rural South Carolina. Does this mean I have to: - Plant a cotton crop? - Buy a pickup truck? - Say nigger instead of Black person? - Drink moonshine instead of scotch? - Make retarded costumes out of my bed sheets? - Buy white bed sheets? - Say "The South will rise again!" - Join the Democrat party? I would say the Terminally Offended really need to get some education on flags before they cry wolf and send the eager Progressives on a false witch hunt. That is the observation that is blatantly clear here. Yep. I mean, it is pretty pathetic being against something you cannot reliably identify. But people also need some perspective. Even if somebody had actually been flying a real flag of the Army of Northern Virginia, the rest of the story is STILL worthy of ridicule. It is funny enough that residents thought it was worth tipping a reporter about this, but it is even funnier that there was so little real news worth reporting that crews were sent out to investigate. They must have thought the headlines would be pretty shocking.
