Should Britain cede control of the Falkland (Malvinas) Islands to Argentina.

I remember Maggie Thatcher going to war with Argentina over the Falklands when I was a kid. I'd expected the British Navy to completely route the Argentinians; but not so. While the British won the war in the end, there were considerable losses on both sides in terms of both human lives and military/navel assets.

30 something years down the track and the issue of the Falkland Islands has never really been resolved. Let's solve it here right now before we have to bring in the peacekeeping forces of Jamaica, mon.

The islands have never been inhabited by Argentina and the people on the island want to remain British. Argentina have only started moaning again because oil has been found there.

The main thing is that the people want to remain British, whilst this is the case the islands will remain British.

The inhabitants of the island are British and want to remain british, Argentina's only claim is they are geographically closer

I see no benefit to Britain in holding onto this tiny island that is so far away from the British Isles. The Falklands is much closer, geographically to Argentina anyway.

It's not about holding those islands. It's about the people living there, those are British and want to stay that way. I'm not sure that it should be given to Argentina just because it's physically closer.
