They amass enough profit for their schools that they shouldn't have to have to live at home or off of mom and dad, a scholarship isn't likely to pay for all the expenses they need payed, such as the diet they eat because they are a college athlete for example.

Side: Yes

Not only that, but resources should be allocated depending on the demand for the sport.

I feel they should. They are out of high school, they are adults, and they are doing something that the public would pay for.

It'd be a great way to cover their tuition and books cost and help them focus on their studies what with not needing a side job.

Also what you said about their risk of injury. It's practically on par with professional athletes, so the benefits should be practically the same also.

Shouldnt they be concentration on side jobs ad such to devlope skills needed in the real world. because not all college athletes are going to be drafted to the big leagues, and what about the other non traditional sports, its not financialy feasable to pay those athletes. it would be unfair to pay the big sports team players money but the the minor teams.

They are in college to gain knowledge to getting a Job later on.

The real world experience they might be getting working at home depot or the on campus store, won't relate to whatever job they are trying to get, and are studying for, after college.

Side: Yes

Since the college recruiters are in it for the money, then the college athletes should get a piece of that monetary pie.

They already get athletic scholarships that could total over 100,000 dollars plus an education worth possibly 100s of thousands of dollars over their lifetime. If they want to be paid cash then let them turn pro and make a living that way.

Although i agree we should not pay studet athletes, have you taken into account that the NCAA make billions a year. dont you think that the players should get somthing since they risk their health to play? im just asking questions to get more depth in thought.

I have taken into account that the NCAA makes a boat load of money. But what does the money the NCAA makes have anything to do with weather kids should get paid. They already get paid to play through a scholarship. If students get paid cash they are no longer an amateur. We might as well have 16 and 17 year olds get agents to negotiate 4 year 20 million dollar contracts. Then only the very wealthy schools can attract the top talents.
