Should Facebook Be Allowed To Look Through Your Profile And Judge Your Age

Facebook has been banning people who have faked their age. But how do they know that you faked your age. The only logical way they could of have found out that you fake your age is by going through your profile. Should they be allowed to do that? Is it a breach of our privacy or does our privacy even matter scince it's their website.

Since people already open up an account for the whole world to see anyway, why is it any different that facebook staff look at it for security measures. If people are so concerned with their privacy, then maybe they shouldn't put themselves where any one can look at their information.

Well then by that answer we should not even exist! We all have information that can easily be accessed by a variety of people that doesn't mean that we give them permission to do so or that we want them in our bussiness. On Facebook people can only see what you want them to see.

I understand the point you are making, but once a person begins using social networks, they cannot expect to have some of their rights violated. The site belongs to Facebook anyway, and if people feel the need to keep their age and information private, then they should find another social network to use or just not lie about their age.

No and even if they went through your profile unless people mention it they wouldn't know. Not to mention that a lot of these kids that are on probably have their parents permission. They should just back off, it's the parents responsibility to keep an eye on the kids

To have your parent's permission is one thing, to have the parents be aware of what you are doing on facebook is another. Most parents don't pay attention to what their kid is doing on-line, until it is too late.

Granted there are lot of parents who do not watch their kids and what they do on facebook but there are an equal amount that do.

I don't like Facebook at all! Really, what is privacy in the information technology age?

i know its a warn out argument, but talk about a slippery slope on this one lol, Facebook checking through peoples profiles to determine age. then through messages, then gmail decides it wants to go through your email occasionally to look for illegal material. idk, seems to open the door for a lot more bad than good. and on top of that, anyone else think discrimination will come up? some racist looks at a 16 year old Spanish girls profile and says, no way, shes definitely 12, deletes her, now she just lost EVERYHTING on her fb, all her friends she might never see again, JUST because some guy decided she looked a little young.

Side: No

I never cared for Facebook and this intrusion of looking through someone's profile to ascertain an age makes me distrust Facebook more.
