Yes, each state should be treated fairly by the DNC. It doesn't make sense to have Florida and Michigan excluded, especially since they're critical for the Democratic party to carry in the election.

How could they be seated fairly? Obama wasn't even on the Michigan ballot. Should Hillary really be rewarded for keeping her name on the Michigan ballot despite the fact that the primary wasn't blessed by the DNC?

Absolutely not. Although Hillary "won" those states, she did so unfairly - she kept her name on the Michigan ballot when Obama's name was removed. Obviously she had an unfair advantage in that case. I can see more of an argument for seating Florida's delegates.

The states were warned ahead of time what would happen, but they went ahead anyway ... and the DNC called their bluff. What kind of precedent will it set if they're allowed in now? If FL and MI want their representatives counted, hold new caucuses, which the DNC has said they'd allow.

The state party officials were warned ahead of time what would happen...not the voters. Therein lies the conundrum.

True, but this isn't a national election ... it's a party election. There's no constitutional rule saying everyone deserves a vote in what's essentially a private system in some ways. Not that I'm disagreeing in general ... I do think the Democrats will risk alienating voters by not counting FL and MI, but the party as a whole can't just let primaries get earlier and earlier ... we'll be voting for the candidate in 2012 sometime in January 2009.

this was agreed upon a long time ago... they shouldn't be counted now just because hillary's losing...
