The way I think, Infrastructure expenditures would do much more for the economy than a tax rebate. During tough economic times, most of the people who receive a tax rebate would try and make the money go as far as possible. Because of this, these people would not support small businesses or other businesses that would most benefit from the influx of money into the economy. Most people would spend the money at stores that may see a rise in profits during these times, big stores such as Wal-Mart and others that have the size and volume to offer low prices. On the other hand, investments in infrastructure will do many things to improve the economy. New work being done will create a need for jobs, which would be extremely helpful to the economy alone. Much of the U.S. infrastructure is in need of repair and replacement, as seen by disasters in recent years. Many necessary elements of infrastructure in the country are over half a century old, dating back to the last times of rapid infrastructural growth. It is possible that the U.S. could fall behind countries that have been booming and constantly adding the newest and most technologically advanced infrastructure, decades ahead of much of the infrastructure. Government investments in elements of infrastructure such as transportation, water and sewage, and would entice companies to invest in the United States, providing jobs and kick-starting the economy of the country. Upgrades in transportation infrastructure alone would increase the ability of workers to move out of cities, decreasing overcrowding and crime. Commuters would have other options than to drive on overcrowded highways, increasing the efficiency and price of the transportation of goods and decreasing emissions from commuters. The United States has been lagging for years in transportation behind countries with fast and efficient transportation systems, such as high-speed trains and inter-city mass transit. Investments in transportation and all other infrastructure could improve the day-to-day life of millions of people. 452 days ago | Tagged As: Infrastructure expenditures

Because the New Deal worked so well the last time? http://www.econbrowser. http://www.mises.org/ It's controversial, but many economists believe the attempt from government to interfere turned a depression into the great depression. Let's learn from history instead of repeating it. 451 days ago | Tagged As: Tax Rebates
