Should Parents Reward Their Children With Gifts for Good Grades?

Yes

VS.

No

Side Score: 2

Why not? If it provides incentive to succeed that wasnt there before then so be it, and if they were just naturally inclined to succeed before hand then they deserve a reward.

Side: Yes

Children like to be rewarded, so, it is nice for parents to reward their kids with gifts for good grades.

Side: Yes

Here's the deal:

If your kid hits the honor roll and you want to do something nice for them, cool. That encourages recognition and approval of a job well done.

If you say "hey, get good grades and I'll give you $50", I see that as placing the reward before the accomplishment. I wouldn't compete in the Olympics for the gold medal; I'd compete to be the best.

No, my parents don't reward my brothers and I for good grades. If parents did do that then all the children would be doing is getting good grades for the sole fact of rewards and not for learning.
