Should Pierced And Tattoo'd People Be Less Discriminated Against?

Not hiring someone due to body modification like tattoos and piercings is legally not even discrimination, do you think this is wrong or not and why? And I'm not talking about places where piercings can be a health risk, that's completely understandable, I'm talking about professional, respectable places where piercings and tattoos and coloured hair plus more has no effect on the way you work.

The majority of people with tattoos are just trying to be creative with their body, yes I get that when people think of tattoos and piercings that they mean that they were in jail, it is not always the case. There can be people who have both but get stressed because they know almost every employer does not allow them to have it because of the image, who cares about the image, if they get the job done and are good or very well at it then let them do it, regardless of how they look. Basically this is judging a person before you know them, which is a bad start to begin with.

There is no legitimate basis from which to deny employment, services, housing, etc. to someone on the basis of their physical appearance, and that includes people with tattoos and piercings. I honestly cannot understand why this is a serious issue for some people... they need to get over themselves and their delusional superiority complex.

Tattoos are for chavs. You clearly just love to yogurt knit so much that you deny obvious facts. Also if someone is tattoeed and I wee interviewing them for a job I would be concerned as to what my customers or clients would think of them.

You assertions are not proof of the point, and as no facts have been presented I cannot be in denial of them. Your equally unfounded excuse is the same tired argument that people have been using for centuries to discriminate against others groups - blacks, queers, etc. It is no more valid in this case than in the others.

I am voting this down because you said yogurt knit but not knit your own Birkenstocks.

I expect better from you.

People with tattoos are ex-convicts, drug users and sex addicts. Those people are bad examples of what professionalism is about.

Nice over-generalized assertions - feel free to prove them anytime.

WRONG. Some of them sure may be, some of them no.

I post you a link. I'm not saying this were the most great people ever, but they are or were very important and successful.

Tattoos are body graffiti. Who wants to look at graffiti? They look chavy and lower class. When I see someone worth a tattoo I asume that they are rough and for good reason too.

Let me ask you a question: Would you put a bumper sticker on a Ferrari?

I wouldn't try to offer a psychoanalysis behind the reasoning of people who disfigure and/or mutilate their bodies in this pretentious way. However, my opinion is that their efforts to be noticed is the consequence of some sort of attention seeking personality disorder and as an employer for 30 years I would automatically downgrade any job applicant with tattoos, but in particular body piercing, as I consider this to be one step away from having a bone through your nose. How would you feel if you visited your local surgery only to find all the doctors and clerical staff each had a large bone through their nose and black and white chevrons tattooed across their faces?

I think they are discriminated against the correct amount.
