Don't get me wrong.. I agree with you, but don't you think there is a social obligation to discourage self destructive customs. In the same way that smoking and drinking have limitations on when and where they can advertise, shouldn't it be the same for plastic surgery? I'm not talking about banning it, just taking measures to stop the glamourisation of it and irresponsible and exploitative advertising campaigns.

Absolutely Not. That is what entailed with freedom of choice.

Bad personal choices inflict consequences.

If I don't were my seat-belt, I only have myself to blame. Nobody else.

Ridiculous.

It's an optional surgery in most instances. One cannot separate what one is free to choose from freedom of choice, hence it is covered for adults under every interpretation of Western Law.

Further, there are instances where a youngster it disfigured through tragedy or genetics, and the free market practice of plastic surgery has hugely improved the options for these sad cases. So vanity-based as it may be in general, it is certainly a good thing overall.

Finally. Fake tits are great for the economy as a whole, and from one who has dated strippers, this industry has just about perfected fake boobs. For that all of us owe them our gratitude.

Hate to agree with iamdavid but he ended with a great observation. Fake boobs lift the whole countries spirits.

There are reconstructive benefits to people who have been in accidents, but even with those aside, I can't think of a situation where personal body modification should be a concern of the law or the general public.

Side: No

People can do what they want to themselves as long as it does not directly inflict harm to another.

Side: No

Certainly not for reconstructive purposes. Maybe sanctions should be placed on the promotion of plastic surgery and attempts should be made to suppress the media's repugnant attitude toward physical imperfections.

Side: No

Age restrictions yes. Advertising restrictions yes. Outright ban no for all the reasons listed above.

Side: No

If a person wants plastic surgery and can afford to have the procedure done, then plastic surgery should not be banned.
