It's the "holiday season", not just Christmas.

Old habits are hard to break. Once upon a time, the birth of Christ was what we Anglos celebrated here in America. Today, in America's vast cultural habitation I think we should allow all religions to celebrate their holidays...either alone or in tandem with others. But then, do we change the name of the season? If yes, then what must be chosen should be all enveloping and capture the joy of all races and religions. Speaking of which..."The Season of Joy" is not a bad choice. In our own homes and in our own traditions we are free to celebrate in any way we wish to make the holidays more personal for us. It's not a hard thing to do for a season and it welcomes all to the altar of remembrance.

Strictly from a retail point of view, stores would be remiss in not recognizing all that is out there for them to grab another buck for! Isn't that an awful thing to say? But the bottom line in business will always err on the side of dollars and cents.

yes to which question?

well, i don't care. stores should be allowed to display w/e the fuck they want. Hot Topic has pentagrams... should they be forced to put up Crucifixes and Star of Davids?

Stores are owned by individuals, and these individuals have the right to free speech. if the words "merry christmas" burn your skin, then go somewhere else...
