Should chewing gum be allowed in schools

Yes

No

Yes, but only at Lunch and Break times. Never in lessons because it is disrespectful to the teacher. Also obviously only if their gum goes in the bin, not on the floor, on the walls or underneath the tables. As long as they abide by this there is no harm in it.

How is it disrespectful if you chew gum when the teacher is teaching?

Side: Yes

It makes it look like you are not paying attention. It tends to be the ne'er-do-wells who chew gum in lessons anyway.

My school is not very strict with its regulations. In this context it is often frustrating. I sit down at my desk in Maths- and oh!- look what I found under the table! I absentmindedly run my hands under it and have contact with chewing gum. No matter how many times teachers remind my peers, they can't be bothered to even walk over to a bin to put their chewing gum in it. The yucky stuff- at least 10 times in your schooling years- is found in almost any nook and cranny in the school and on the ground. In the end, chewing gum is more trouble than what it's worth.

Just brush your teeth twice a day, floss, and don't breathe on me.
