Yes, it would establish one common language throughout the Indian Subcontinent where some 8 or more separate languages currently exist. The adoption of English as the Nation's first language would greatly improve inter-regional communications and could be taught concurrently with the all the traditional provincial tongues. Side: Yes

I donot know why Americans think they can make any decision at all for any country in the world. As if those countries are made up of toys(not mindful humans with independent sovereign dignity) programmed by America to do the bidding of America at anytime on any issue without their opinions. The super power delusion Americans live in causes them to insult a lot of people's pride and dignity. China, Russia, etc....never do this.... Side: Yes

Why needs there to be an "official" language? Why not let them speak whatever they wish? Why not just teach english in the schools or make the resources to learn more available instead of mandating it in some retarded legislation that they must speak it? Why do you domesticated humans need laws and governments to do something? If making the english is good for india then they can learn english without giving up the language they speak. Side: No

I'm honestly still quite overwhelmed this is actually a topic that people are agreeing to... Another country (whether it be the UK or US) don't have the rights to decide for another country. They're free to talk in whatever bloody language they want to. I'm sure plenty of you would be blind to this, but this is technically equivalent to saying: "Should Hindi be made America's official language?" It just doesn't make sense, and there's no reason why you're doing it in the first place, and it has no impact on your life whatsoever :] Side: No
