Should kids be paid for doing house chores?

Yes

Yes, because it gives them an idea of work leading to compensation. It can help prepare them for work, and it's not just forcing them to clean up.

But they'd grow up thinking that for every little bit of work they do, they should be rewarded for it. They would never do favours without the possibility of financial gain.

of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is so propsturous that poeple would not want to reward their own children for good things what are they gonna do when they go to collage so good job yay then not help them with anything these people are ridiculous!!!!!!!!

If children are rewarded, even for menial things, they develop a further understanding of how the economy works. They will further value money, learn to 'save up' and respect more of the financial aspects of parenting (in theory at least).

Side: Yes

Being paid for chores is a great incentive to let kids be enthusiastic about doing those chores.

Plus kids are not like livestock. Kids deserve to learn the value of money. Letting them get chores now and paying them say 10 cents per chore, is a great way set them up for success in the future.

It depends on:

Age

Lesson

Alternatives

Age matters because younger kids mainly just need to learn how to contribute and how to be responsible. If you pay them from the start then they may just think everything in life is supposed to pay them.

Lesson means sometimes the point is for them to learn what to do with money. If they gradually accumulate it from chores and then are learning how much they can do or not do with that money then it's worth paying them.

And alternatives means sometimes there is not a viable alternative in the community for your kid to go make that money in a job. Yet they still need money for many things in life. It's actually better to make them work for it than just to give a handout until they no longer live with you.

It does make sense to incentivize their contribution to the household. Children will want a monetary allowance and if this is provided in exchange for labor they will appreciate the value of money, rather than taking it for granted.

If kids get paid for house chores, parents should be paid for taxiing, rent for housing, food etc. etc. (and let's be honest as a kid that would cost so much more than you'd get from a few chores)

You are so so wrong. I do chores. In the real world, having someone else do something like install your dishwasher, It would 200% as much as it would to do it your self.

I don't think kids should get paid for doing house chores. The reason why is because kids will do there chores only for the money. If you say to them that your not going to get paid for your chores then they won't volunteer to do them by themselves. They would just let there parents do most of the work.

I don't get paid for doing the chores I voluntarily do the chores. Also sometimes my parents tell me what to do and I do it.

Side: No

No, think about everything your mother has done for you, can't you help a little bit around the house? It is your house too!

No they should not.If they get paid for little things like this it is parents are losing money and children are using the money for useless stuff.
