Should public schools have a prayer room?

Yes but only in an institute for religious purposes and it should never really be required or mandatory.

FOR AMERICA, obviously.

It's a right son ...

Only for religious schools. ~

Side: Yes

They'd have to make lots and lots of prayer rooms (so the religious students don't start a holy war or Jihad over the territory) and as there are some 350,000 religions recognized by the US government, that's going to require a lot of time, money, and space to build over a quarter of a million prayer rooms at every public school. Especially when you consider that it's completely unnecessary to pray in a special room and in fact your prayers would be just as effective (or ineffective) if voiced in your head at your desk in your classroom, presumably shortly before a surprise exam, adding prayer rooms to public schools is just ridiculous.

School is for learning, arguably only for the things you will need once you leave high school. Prayer is not a need, it's mostly a free period, study hall, nap time, or recess.

Also it's religiously dividing, what would be given to the students who don't pray?

No but insane asylums should.

Side: No

My school has a "Reform Zone" which is almost like an insane asylum. There are crazy people there. We always have police there. There are also bars on the windows and it looks run down compared to the rest of the campus.

If it was optional sure, but even then it's a waste of money for knowledge we could obtain through church. Living in america disapproves of anything of that sort. That is irrational while the 1st amendment stands.

If God is worth praying to, buildings and rooms are not needed. .

That's exactly it it's not as if he hears your prayers any better because you said them in a special room.

Thank you. God is everywhere, so these things are not needed. :)

Side: No

Public Schools should have no religion in them whatsoever (except optional classes that analyze and study them on a non prejudiced view point). If a person wants something like a prayer room in a school, go to an actual religious school, not a public one.

Side: No

It's quite absurd that someones fallacy should be supported from a gov. money...

I am not against prayer in school, so long as it's not entirely disruptive. Having separate rooms? No. It's unnecessary.

Side: No

In my opinion, it would be a violation of the Supreme Court ruling during the 60's.

As Lawrence Krauss said: "the point of education is not to validate ignorance, but to overcome it."

Adding prayer rooms to keep religions happy is denying people the chance to shear off superstitions and actually learn.

I disagree. I think educating people about religion is actually beneficial, and it allows an individual more options to choose their own path through life. Ignorance of religion is still ignorance and a 'sin' in and of itself.

Yes, education about religions from around the world is good, but teaching people that it is truth is wrong. It cannot stand up to scrutiny whereas science (evolution, the big bang, etc.) can. That's why science should be taught as truth over religion.
