Should students be able to FIRE teachers?

Wouldn't it be awesome if students could fire the worst teachers!?!?

Yes, so students could make sure the best teachers stay, and the worst teachers disappear!

Side: Yes,yay!

Students aren't aware of the hiring process. So students cannot make sure the best teachers really stay. Also, how would the students fire the teacher? Just vote them off? I feel like this could be easily manipulated.

There is nothing to indicate that students would choose the "best" teachers, as opposed to the teachers that they like the most (the most lenient, easiest graders, etc).

Students have feelings, too. They may not FIRE teachers but they may report to authorities whatever stupid/wrong thing the teacher did. If students get expelled for their behavior, why not teachers? Students and teachers have basically the same job in a school and that is TO LEARN. Teachers also learn from their students by understanding the students' point of view. They're all the same. The difference is that teachers are more skilled and know a lot more than the students but what else?

That is already the case.

...What? A student's job is to learn, a teacher's job is to teach.

The ability to and the effort put into creating lesson plans and teaching said curriculum, for one.

In your last reply, students also put effort into studying. They put effort to listening to the teachers. They put effort in making their home works, doing projects and a lot more.

I personally know someone who had a problem with a teacher. It was an oral test and the teacher asked the student a question which wasn't discussed (REASON #1). Why would she do that?

It's a good thing that the student learnt this in her old school. She answered more than what the teacher thought she knew or what she thought she would say. EVEN MORE.

When the grades were up, she failed the subject. (REASON #2) This is not right/ just. Care to reply?

Haha I agree. But my teacher messed up a math problem. It was 202 divided by 5, and she thought it was 4.4 like seriously it's 40.4?!?!?!

I have to admit that I had this dream while going to school. Yes, it would be wonderful if students could fire some teachers that are mean. But, keep the nice ones!

Too bad the teachers unions will come in and protect that teacher. Thanks to the teachers unions the worst of the worst cannot be fired! I love the teacher unions of america!

While I agree there are some really bad teachers, this would not work out like it was intended to.

Side: No, nay!

Hey, something we agree on! Students would have an inability to view teachers objectively, and as such could not deal with that power in a way that would prove effective for schools.

Students are not able to fire teachers, because students not have the ability to realize what is correct and what is wrong. Teachers are like God, because students must respect them. If teachers made any mistake, convey to authority instead of firing.

Maybe for high school and middle school cause they are more mature.

Side: Yes,yay!

No. If they could, they would fire teachers if they were strict, penalized them for stupid behavior, graded harshly, etc.

Not to be rude, but that is a horrible, horrible idea.

Strict teachers can really put a students self esteem low.

They can also really help motivate some students. Depends on the person.

No. Students would not have the necessary skills nor professional qualifications to assess a teacher's ability. What the majority of one year's class may find unacceptable could very well clash with the opinion of those students of subsequent years. Such a harebrained scheme could result in teachers being sacked for frivolous reasons which could include a racial element, an unacceptable accent, their unattractive appearance, being considered ''uncool'' or too strict a disciplinarian. The best barometer of a teacher's ability is the professional judgment of the head teacher and the board of governor's evaluation of their performance throughout the school year and the exam results at the end of the year.

Who cares if they don't have a permit or something. I as gymnast friend say that that is the CRAZIEST thing that I have ever heard in my whole entire lifetime. Some teachers are mean, and they don't deserve to be allowed to punish students!! Don't you agree with that!?
